10 | Rayan Cherki - 2025/26

I love him so much, literally been watching him at Lyon for ages, but I was really disappointed with his performance in such a crucial game. Along with everyone Bar Doku he looked like he didn’t know what to do. I was expecting his magic but it never came, it’s wrong to expect him to carry us when it should be guys who’ve done it before like Foden Haaland, Rodri, but we still need to build the team around him, mask his weaknesses, and use his strengths

Last night made me suspect he doesn’t have the right attitude to be a top player. Might be just a Baller.

Massively talented but Pep is right when it comes to picking and choosing your moments on the pitch.

The great players weren't creating magical big moments every two minutes in games. They were just playing it simple but what made them special was their ability to sense the moment where it's possible to create that moment.

I think Cherki is trying to force it a bit too much because he knows how good he is. But the more you force it, the more readable you become.

But it's easy to forget he is still very young and inexperienced at this kind of level but once he settles into it, he will become even better and can be as good as he wants to be, once he refines his game

I think he just had a poor game. Obviously different players but we’ve got 2 players who can beat a man 2 open up packed defences in him and Doku. The amount of times we had them pinned in their own box and he had the ball just in the edge first half. You’d expect him to make half a yard and get a shot in. He didn’t manage it but i don’t blame him for backing himself to do it.

I’ve posted else where on this forum didn’t watch the Match but listen to commentary on city live and what I could pick up from that he had a better than average game . Without doing to much
It seemed he was willing to run from outside the box into a packed box with Everton players around him
Beat dribbling past players in Close quarters. Laid on a Goal .
Must Also had seen 8 minutes highlights after the. Game and he looked pretty good. I know we can’t take much out of 8 mins highlights.

But in all honesty what you want from the lad I know he’s set a lot of his own standards but give the lad some slack if he doesn’t reach it at all times .

I like him a lot and think he the best Signing of the season in the premier league.

Wasn't necessarily how he played for me. I absolutely love him and look forward to watching him play, but the gesticulation when perhaps things did not quite go his way was a bit frustrating. You need to work in this time, not spend a few seconds throwing your arms in the air when your team need you to react.

There’s a reason Pep is always banging on about body language

Was disappointed with him just from a pass he refused to do when there was a runner it was clear obvious pass and he passed it back instead! He is in the side to make goals not to play it safe!

Needs to stop losing the ball at times and putting us under pressure, Pep will see his arse with that.
Games like Everton where the other team is allowed to kick fück out of us we need stronger players because the refs never give red cards as they should, so we either beat fire with fire or it will continue as we are never gonna get protection.
The PL are hedging their bets on the 115 by making Pgmol dick us.

Yeah that bothered me as well, right beofre Doku scored in the last minute you can see Cherki throwing his hands up.He has to knock that stuff off.

Then it’s Pep’s job to fix it. Turn him into like how KDB viewed the sport and competing.

KdB was a top athlete and extremely competitive.

Cherki has a lot of work to do on his stamina and pressing to compare, but he is improving. In some technical aspects he's more of a magician than David or Kevin. But in terms of work-rate he isn't close yet.

Did it in another recent game too - his inexperience shows in these moments. He'll learn and improve
Going off the transfer forum, no one rates experience anyway. More interested in tweeting about having an “exciting young team”.

I must be the only one who thought he was fine, not his best game but not his worst. Got an assist and his big bursting run in injury time was crucial to the equalising goal. Had some shots that didnt come off but generally played ok.

There were a few moments he should've played a pass earlier but we see that in all of the players. He played well in possession, but not so much out of it and also the body language when he needed to work hard or if we lost the ball is not something Pep will let fly.
