You’ll get slated/mocked on here for that post but there’s a lot of truth to it. Age catches up with us all and especially to someone who has a history of injuries as well. I don’t think he is our best striker any more, best finisher yes, but best for our current style of play? No. If we had traditional wingers creating chances, or overlapping full backs it might be a different story.

It’s not funny though, do we want to be an energetic, vibrant team that’s good to watch? Or do we want to be a revamped version of the Pellegrini Plodders? Our club, and seemingly our fans, either can’t spot or can’t accept when it’s time to move on and evolve the team. Fernandinho is another case in point.

This should absolutely be his last season, yes. Foreign spots are limited. If a player is no longer able to play how we need them to, and spends far too long injured, then yes a decision needs to be made to evolve the team and get more from a foreign spot, even more so when they will be 33 next summer. The decline is only going to accelerate. It doesn’t matter whether he’s been our greatest ever goalscorer, it doesn’t mean you keep playing him forever. Same reason Silva doesn’t play for us any more. Or Vinnie. Or Colin Bell.

I believe you are wrong. If used less he is still the best striker in the league. We do need another OR somebody to step up from youth. He should be given another year if he wants it. Allison and Swales did a mass clearance of fantastic influential charismatic older players and that cost us 35 years.

Kane is the very defintion of a box player , sergio has an injury ,he hasnt been injury prone for a long time before that , he is not finished , he needs to recover and not play so many mins in a row on his return , it is normal to get another injury after a long lay off

Should we get rid of eric , kev when he did his knee , gabby has had loads of injuries , mendy , should we have got rid of vinny ?
