11 days until the big kickoff and start of another glorious Premier League season.. Are you happy?

I'm not content with the way we are looking. Am I missing something, or have we only signed 1 player to improve the quality of the first team? Delph is a very questionable signing as anything more than a squad player.

A few months ago everyone on here was saying we need to overhaul large parts of the squad, and throughout the pitch as well, and week on week too, yet only 2 signings?

I currently have no grounds to assume that the defence will be any better than it was last season (and it was pisspoor) - all we have is Denayer coming in for Boyata. The quality of our fullback options is woeful.

Not sure why so many are so optimistic, other than blind faith?
I think we'll be better this year, defensively. Mangala is the key for me - he'll improve from last season with a bit of experience and can do the running around for Demi and Kompany. With Delph in CDM and Fernando improving we'll look a lot more solid, especially if Toure doesn't play as much.

To answer the topic title question - I was happy enough when Pearce was managing us, not scoring for ages and watching pure dross, so anything other than that makes me happy.
We could finish 10th and win fuck all silverware, with the style of football we have been playing, being the leagues top scorers, it makes every penny worth watching us play.

Let the other fans cry, I've never registered on any other clubs forum crying about their success/how much they've spent and lahdedah.

When any other club has had success throughout my time on this planet, be it Arsenal > Liverpool > Chelsea > Blackburn > Leeds > Forest I've felt genuinely happy for them and respected their accomplishments. The scum are absolute vermin and for me it's more personal hatred towards them as throughout my life most of the scum of the earth have been rags. So I'm not happy for them.

To the Liverpool fan - your club did similar to what other clubs with success have done and that's being bankrolled by somebody with more wealth than the competition.
Fast forward fromthe 80's to present and Mansour has more wealth than sense thus can invest in his projects. I wasn't moaning when you were buying all the talent.
In recent years you've spunked heavy amounts on players anyway so don't point the finger - look at your own accounts.
Good luck for next season, I'm hoping you'll finish above the scum and please do us a favour and look after Sturridge, Mario and Jimmy ;)

The prospect of players improving over time is often overlooked by many fans. The only caveat is they need to play to improve.
I would fully expect Mangala to play 1st choice this season and to improve and to be widely regarded as an excellent defender by the end of the season. He has all the attributes / great attitude and crucially is now going into his second season and knows what he is up against and the players around him.

Similarly Fernando probably realises he needs to step up and start to have more influence on games. The signing of Delph puts him in direct competition with an up an coming player who will be desperate to make the grade, as above, F’do is in his second full season and knows the score now and what he needs to do.

I can see Mangala having a great year, I’d also expect better performances from our midfield as the competition is there and 2/3 out of the 4 mids we have will step up and have a great season. If F’do ends up on the bench and drifting out of contention I would hope it’s because the other 3 are all playing well.

Yeah to be honest not "pissed" but perplexed.....i can see the attraction in Man City for a billionaire.....Man Urinal have had it too good for too long and a thoroughly (on the whole there are exceptions) not a nice regime from Slur Alex to.....i dunno...the ball boys!! But why did Roman pick...Chelsea? Not even the biggest club in London (would say on a par with West Ham when he flew in) at the time so yeah.....i would be honest say yep i would love a billionaire to have picked us....mind you that said Dalglish was "lethal" in the transfer market on a limited budget...imagine the mayhem he would cause with more money!! So maybe best we stay as we are...

Didn't Dalglish spend something like £80m on Coates, Carroll, Downing, Enrique and Adam?

Exactly as I see it. Not buying a DM and LB is going to hurt us.

I don't think the LB situation is going to be a problem domestically. The lack of a top quality DM could well be though. That said, who's actually out there who' s got the quality and is available?
Take Pogba out of the equation and there's not many options out there.

Oh yes....plus others down the years and i think he had a hand in proably THE worse player ever to grace the field in any league including pub leagues...i give you...Christian Poulson!! I mean for christ sake the man had blond hair and.................a head band!! Shocking! Think too he "persuaded" the cock-er-nee "magician" Jo Cole on 160k/wk.....throw in various "the next Zidanes....George Whears etc" or a saying i love "wonderkids" and there you have it! We are "abysmal" in the transfer market.....have to say! But then going back we let class like Jari Litmanen and a few others go...

Not being funny with out Stevie over the years we seriously would be.....Villa!!!
