The way you play as a winger is different when you switch sides.

We saw consistent good performances LW, only for Pep to switch him RW and play with Walker. Not a fan of Pep doing this to players learning our system.

That being said, he could have worked harder to track back.

He wasn't subbed at halftime because of his performance alone, it was the team being awful, particularly walker and it was either he had to go or he had to be switched to the other side. The priority was getting Bernardo over there to help cover up the liability we had at right back. He himself was no worse than grealish or kdb or bernardo.

my issue with him is at a stage normally where I would say like 2-3 years at a weaker top league club could benefit him than move to a top club but he actually had that period at Rennes and still is very raw. when to hold onto the ball, when to try his tricks, his whole off the ball game, stamina issues, bit strange given he spent 2.5 years in Ligue 1 already. would he be 2 years younger and got him straight from Anderlecht I would understand more his weaknesses.

City is a big and demanding jump for him.

anyway he has a lot to improve and I am sure he learnt a lot already since August, but long way to go if he wants to be a regular starter in this City team. for now I would send him on last 25 mins as fresh winger vs a tired defence. will watch him in Euros how he plays under different manager/system.

Not his best game today after a few good uns recently.

Exactly what you expect from a 21 year old winger.

He has a big future.

He was pulled because both he and Walker were poor. Jeremy, so far, has been poor defensively. His body positioning is poor, today he gave away cheap free kicks, offered very little going forward and repeatedly lost possession allowing Forest to counter attack at pace. I honestly think there is a really good player in there but Pep needs to work his magic. Understandably the lad puts his focus on the attacking side of his game but Pep won’t let that wash, hence he got pulled today. You do your shift defensively first and foremost and then use your talents in the final third when we’ve worked space. His pace is amazing but this is a team game and he needs to improve that to be a true Pep player.

Perhaps Pep thought Forest would sit deep and Walker wouldn't need cover- lucky not to have conceded by the time he changed it.
Was hardly Doku’s fault. He lost it a couple of times in bad area’s but the team was that bad we barely got him the ball in good positions. An absolute one off for that to happen. They still got in and should have scored down that side straight after h/t. The sub made sense but it was barely down to Doku. Not saying he was good but the whole lot of them were poor. Grealish lost the ball easily a few times.

You know it’s one of those days when Bernado is mis-controlling the ball. Thankfully we managed to get the 3 points

You have mentioned a couple of times that it was ‘barely down to Doku’. It was today. Not just him to be fair but defensively he was woeful.
It’s not a witchhunt, he’s a young lad, he’ll get better. But don’t defend the indefensible. He was poor. Pep pulled him. We looked better without him. We move on.
Plenty of times we have looked better with him but today wasn’t one of those days.

Always seem to perform better when he is a sub …. Think he would be best used this way until he shows more consistency ….
