Not really true as he’s skinned some great fullbacks on his day.His issues and what’s clearly holding him back from becoming a great winger is decision making and end product.
You don't play one on one when faced against the big sides, so it doesnt help a lot that he can skin great fullbacks. Youre also playing against great coaches. And decision making is not just to make the right cross after you skin the fullback, but also before that to figure out ways to not be predictable to the opposition. And that is through your movement. Through that youre creating and recognizing the moments that you can exploit due to the situation rather than starting every move with "ok Im just standing here and Im better one on one against this defender so they just need to give me the ball and something will happen". The opposition always has a backup plan that you need to take into account too. End product will come naturally once he figures out how to anticipate situations better, be more creative with his ability and think out of the box.

To be honest you get far more chances to be one on one against the good sides than you do against the majority of sides City play who have 10 behind the ball. His movement could be much better i agree. His main strength will always be his dribbling ability and acceleration over 10/15 yards. He’s not suddenly going to become a Beckham or KDB whipping in great crosses. If he improves his decision making and final ball like he did Saturday (yes it was only Salford but he often gets into similar positions against Premier League sides) then he can become a great winger here over the next couple of years.

There's a hell of a player in there. Needs some experience and coaching to channel his limitless energy as he is prone to a bit of "headless chicken" but that'll come with time.

If he can work on his finishing and final pass decision making, the thought of opposition defenders staring down at Doku, Savinho, Foden and Haaland brings back heavy Sane, Sterling, Aguero vibes.

More for foden, McAtee wasnt the one we needed to close this Game imo.
I’d have liked him on but very few managers would have done that in my opinion. Trying to close the game out and McAtee keeps the ball far better.

That slide-rule pass he does it a proper mint arrow to his bow. When he joined, he was either dribbling past players or he was shit - that pass he’s made to Kev 4/5 times in that half alone is so dangerous.

Players sit off him so he can’t embarrass them but it opens up space for him to play it.

Love it.

Yeah

Yeah.Involved in all 3 goals can’t argue with that

Clear indication he doesn’t belong I gather?

How many games does it take to show that he might have a chance to be good enough on this team? I don’t know.

James McAtee and him are born in the same year

But we’re sure that one belongs and we have to keep and the other is not good enough. No chance?

I’m just saying…

Just one other piece of information.

Remember that match where he scored a huge goal early this season from distance?
I believe it was against Fulham.

I don’t recall many people noting how huge that goal was late in the game because we gave up a goal and fans were frustrated with the defending,

It was almost as if that didn’t happen and it was huge. It was the mid-80 something-th minute.

That’s two massive games he’s performed this season. He did this multiple games during our run to win the title last season

I don’t know. I wonder if Pep Guardiola notices?

He doesn’t mean he can’t get better and or need to improve that’s not the point.

And what do you know another huge performance and chance created…

Assist direct

Those who keep saying he doesn’t belong when are you gonna be honest with yourself and say am I being fair because some of the same people say this is not the case about other players

What’s going on?

I was worried when I saw Sav on the bench, thought he’d been good last few games. But Doku has been fantastic.

This is probably his best game for us so far, along with the Bournemouth game last season.

2 of the last 3 matches and these are not small potatoes matches. These are important games to get the team back from a poor state Salford, regardless of the opposition and this OK bottom of the table, but tough away match no assured victory at all.

His rating in the first half was 6.6 and 6.7 on FotMob and WhoScored even though he had those three or four chances that he created because he had a poor ground duels won/lost %.

And then look what happens. He still did well as the game went on. And now.

Arguably again, two of the last three matches the best player on the The pitch or one of the most important at least top two or three minimum.

His link up play with KDB Belgium is probably like damn how come we couldn’t get this before

But Kev has not been fit

You have to also argue that look at the difference with a fit KDB I’m willing to say that

We saw some similarities last season with Doku and Grealish on that same part of the pitch

When Jeremy had that similar link up play with Jack.
