11 | Jeremy Doku - 2024/25

Its fashionable to dislike Doku and he obviously has a lot of flaws in his game but people forget easily.

First of all, he made an excellent assist today.

But there is also last season. He tormented TAA and Liverpool, and Carvajal and Madrid, carried the team in the FA cup final against Man Utd and in the semis against Chelsea, and pretty much saved the title by breaking Porro against Tottenham. There was a bunch of other matches where he made plenty of impact. Since arriving he has more G+A than guys like Garnacho and Madueke. Became the youngest player ever to have five contributions in one match. No easy feat for someone in his first season.

Theres a reason why he was so highly rated as a youngster, and super knowledgeable people from Klopp to Henry to Guardiola raved about his ability. FFS even Mbappe has said he was in awe of Doku. He is low on confidence right now and isn't put in a position to make an impact. But hes still super young and absolutely on the track to stardom if you use and develop him in the right way.

Just stop letting him muscle up so much lol, hes losing his best feature which is his acceleration

I just don't understand why he was inside in the first half when he should've been running at Coleman, he still got an assist but would've been more effective out wide, his defensive game is poor and he needs to work on that but I'm not giving up on him anytime soon, we've seen flashes of his quality and he and Savinho should be given more time.

One of a number of poor signings. I’d rather see Foden wide left as he has far more end product from wide than Doku does and than he does himself centrally in terms of creativity.
Huh ? Foden has no end product at all at the moment in his favoured position, he's going to be worse out wide.

I’d get it more if Doku and Savinho were youngsters learning their trade behind established wingers.

Relying on two youngsters will always mean the team will be inconsistent.
They are at the level that they should be coming off the bench not starting every game which one of them has done on average.

Their assist numbers aren't great but not terrible six between them but a combined two goals just isn't anywhere near good enough.

Neither are good defensively which is just another problem for us at the moment.

but then do you want Grealish to start with his end product?

Always rated him as a talent but what is now obvious and a reason for me he will never make an elite player , a heart of a mouse.

He is a coward, happy to go missing and is utterly paranoid with his every action. He is either looking over to Pep to see his reaction of saying he's sorry to one of his teammates.

Doku wake up and play your game, stop worrying about the consequences of your actions, make the game yours.
