11 | Jeremy Doku - 2025/26

Tormented their backline.

Seemed to be out of gas towards the end, but he put in a performance he can be proud of.
Early exchanges he was a bit wasteful but no different to rest of our players. After that he was brilliant and as you stated tormented their backline. Personally thought it was up there as his potentially his best game for us. Even when out of gas he still had a go at them.

Without him we create no chances at all. Top game once again. For me our best player all season. Just needs a better RW and he won’t need to ball carry as much

Hes a very Arjen Robben type of winger. Dribbling and acceleration but he’s also started adding the cutting in on his right foot and trying to whip it into the corner. Similar to Robben when he did it with his left.

That’s only started happening this season. Every time he’s tried it the defender has struggled to stop it.

His effort last night was the same it was going bottom corner apart from a very good Courtois save.

We’re genuinely fortunate to have Jeremy Doku in this side. What he offers as a complete package is outstanding. His acceleration, his press, his constant threat on the ball, it all changes the dynamic of this team. The way he carries possession up the pitch, the duels he wins, the chaos he creates, and most importantly his attitude - absolutely impeccable. He’s an absolute force of nature.

I’ll be honest, he can be very frustrating at times, and I’ve heard plenty of people slag him off in the stands. But you’ve got to put all that noise to one side and actually look at what he brings to the team as a whole. The impact, the bravery on the ball, the pressure he puts defenders under, it’s invaluable for us. Not every player is perfect in every moment, but the overall package he gives us is something we’re incredibly lucky to have. He elevates the entire side, and that’s what matters. He's fast become a very important player in this team.

Its strange how no one sees how little he runs and still how tired he gets... Im trying to find distance covered to confirm the eye test but these sites require payment, lol no thanks.

all i want from him is when he absolutely dominates the fullback and gets into the box, go with your initial decision. take a shot. whip in a cross. cut it back. but do it immediately. I counted at least 3 times yesterday where he basically got completely free, edge of the area (and all through his fantastic work) but then just.. did nothing and lost the ball.

I'm not surprised. His game is built on explosive acceleration. Takes the wind out of your sales pretty quick. Had them tied in knots
So is Vini's yet he can run for 180 minutes if he needs to.

Again if Doku had Vini's lungs (or if Vini had Doku's coachability and tactical discipline) we would be talking about BDO right now.

Currently 23 so still very young. As a reminder at 23, Yaya was at Olympiakos, David Silva, on loan at Celta Viga from Valencia, Mahrez, signed as an unknown for Leicester from Le Havre, KDB, just signed for Wolfsburg, Zabba signed for us as an unknown from Espanyol. This guy can become genuinely world class over the next 18 months and he is a blue!

david was definitely not out on loan at 23. we bought him at 24. he was on loan at 20.

My bad, you are correct, he was at Valencia and had been out on loan previously. Whilst he was a good player when we bought him my point is he became world class later, I think Doku is heading in the right direction and can become a top top player.

It’s a mystery how Pep keeps picking this lazy player that can’t run. He must think he’s Messi as he says only Messi can not work hard without the ball and still be in a team.

Probably because there isn't anyone more creative at the moment. So in a way he is like Messi for this team.
