11 | Jeremy Doku - 2025/26

Not sure that's actually true, I'd rather they trust that everything is purely a result of the hard work they put in than the belief it's all down to christ. Don't want to derail the thread though, just noticed hes mentioned religion in two interviews in the last few days and I've never heard him do that before. As long as hes tearing it up, it's all good.
Pep and the coaching staff finally able to teach him how to make runs and cross.

Doku: Praise to our lord and saviour

It's not appropriate to try to knock someone because of their beliefs. Phil's a Christian ffs, knocking him? One thing is for certain, the state of our country now is down to the loss of Christian and family values.

I'm not a Christian and I believe that 100%.

Ffs; clueless…

You actually think that fractured society is down to (a) diversity and (b) the nuclear family…

Get Enoch the fuck out

I don’t give a flying fuck if Docu thinks little green men live on the moon as long a he plays like he is doing in the CWC. That’s probably more credible than believing in The Father, The Son and The Holy Ghost fairy stories.

Ricky Gervase Said the only difference between an Atheist and a Christian is that Christian only believe in one god and Atheist believe in one less.

So Doku went 14 games without scoring a goal for club or country.

And has now scored in 3 straight appearances for club and country..

There os a decided difference in the way he moved now.

For a while, is out of the world abilities at dribbling had been q bit of a crotch. As he'd just stand still at the touchline, wait for the ball, with the mentality of "I'll blow by whoever is the defender."

This os understandable in light of how effective his dribble is. But he seems to have added an unpredictable movement to his game. Attacking open spaces, and making more sudden back courts.

Both of his goals and 1 of the other chances he has had in this tournament have been as q result of pre-reception movement rather than hos dribble.

This new wrinkles, makes him infinitely harder to defend.

Folk, we might have a World Class Doku season on the horizon

And I'm here for it. :)

Like some have alluded to this guy might have been influential in the sudden change.

I guess there could be something in this, although in such a short space of time I wonder how much influence he could have.

I remember it being said that Arteta worked a lot with Sterling and was in a large part responsible for his excellent goals output.

Then you look at what Mane and Salah did at Liverpool with this guy there, both of them were good players before joining Liverpool but no-one really predicted how much they'd explode.

And I'm pretty sure I've heard Pep say such things as he trusts his attacking players to use their talent and instincts themselves. So maybe the likes of Doku and Savinho haven't quite been getting the detailed coaching and work on exactly where to be recently.

But it's just conjecture, obviously we don't actually see what goes on on the training ground.

It's only natural that Doku and Savinho get better as they approach their prime years.

Coaching is important but Doku had fantastic games in the previous two seasons too. E.g., he contributed 5 goals/assists vs Bournemouth in 23/24.

It is more how he has scored and created chances in the last few ganes that is promising for me.

He had fantastic games previously as well but now he is attacking the open space with runs behind. Previously he would predominantly hog the wing and beat his players with tricks. If he carries this on with mixing these up he is going to be very hard to defend.

I think both coaching and the prescence of Ait Nouri has helped him.

.
Mane scored a hat trick against us for Southampton, he certainly looked the part then.

Really think this guy is the one that'll piece us together next season. Some attacking force down the wing, looked the most exciting player on the pitch at times last season. Hopefully some more productivity and can become one of the best attackers in the league.

That's because Doku is actually a good finisher,

but how on earth was he expected to get good chances when Pep instructed him to be super wide left and he gets double or triple teamed because of his good dribbling.

Now I think he could have made better passes with his end product with his dribbling, but this new Doku both lets him dribble and create AND be more central to get goal scoring chances.

Love to see it, it'll be good competition with Marmoush.
