I'm his biggest fan(feel like I've said that before) but he inspired no confidence in me today.. He's not a LB so it's hard to really slam him.. but he was shite today.

Even outside of some poor defending, I got the feeling that he always wanted to go forward with the ball. We're up two with 15 minutes to go- just play it around the back and let them come out.

Not his day for me. I feel like he's becoming a bit more involved with how we play (no evidence to back that up) and as such his decision making is becoming more important to get right.

I hope it's all part of the learning curve, as if it is he'll end up on a higher level than ever.

He seems to drift out of position too much but I’m sure that’s his orders so tricky for him. Not his best game today

I didn't think he was that bad, until the fart-arsed tackle. Talk about swinging a foot at the ball!

He is fine in certain games against certain opposition. Against some systems he is a real asset.
Fair to say that today was not one of them, sadly.
Leicester probably the worst team for him to face with his particular attributes, even in the first half he was targeted and exposed a few times.
For me, Zin’s biggest problem is that it often appears he can only play the way he is facing.
He is very square on when he receives the ball, unlike more natural and experienced full backs like Cancelo and Walker, whose body shape is always on the half turn and have either the pace or the defensive nous to do something about it if they fuck it up.
That is probably a legacy of being brought up as a midfielder tbf but I would still love a specialist LB. It seems like years since we had a reliable one
The kid Mitchell at Palace has struck me as someone we should be keeping an eye on for a while now

Zinchenko has been a brilliant £3 million addition to our squad and he has more than deserved his medals and all the money he has earned.

That doesn't mean that he is anything more than a back up and to try to rate him as a regular starter is unfair. That said, he has been dreadful in recent games and even as back up it's debatable whether he's good enough.

Zinchenko is the weakest link in our side whenever he takes the field.

I love his attitude and commitment - but unless we intend to field him only in unimportant ties or when the game is already won - then we need an upgrade. The drop off in quality between him and any other player we start against strong sides is substantial.

Some of the evidence that you seek is imo in yesterday's game. I watched it again and he spent a lot of time (more than usual ) drifting towards the centre of the field, even to right back at one stage. Maybe he was instructed to do this based on the selection. Without Rodri there were huge gaps to fill so maybe he had instructions. Of course he's the scapegoat again though, when we concede, Sterling lost possession for the 1st, Gundogan for the 2nd and we messed up our corner for their third, in each case over half the team were equally at fault in the concessions, but the vultures want a shiny new multi-million costing "traditional left back", as he's not "fit for purpose".
