Money doesn't come in to it. If you can't afford Brighton away you can't afford united away. Or can you?

I have worked in retail for over forty years. I missed full seasons of always at one time or other. I just went to any game I could, any replay, any game that wasn't on a bloody Saturday. Its been quite a slog getting to my points total but really the points meant fuck all, I have just been very grateful to be able to watch the team after yeats of missing out.so when we've have gone to boro and got thumped 8-1neither the loyalty points or the money aspect came in to my head. I like many others have earned the right to go to old Trafford etc.
Of course money comes into it. Some people can afford one away game a month, that's within their budget. So if Brighton away was four months apart from United away you may be able to afford both; if Brighton away is on the Saturday and United away is on the Wednesday someone might not be able to afford both.

In my post I didn't mention "the right to go to Old Trafford" I just said that those who've been able to afford 5-10 away games a season over the years may now only get to 3-5 away games a season because the points threshold is getting further away from them. Those 3 games could be Sunderland Fulham and West Ham, I didn't mention United. I didn't even mention people on a high number of points I just merely stated something that might be an issue for lads who get to a certain number away games a season, they could very well see that dropping. This isn't about people with a lot of points.

my guess is people will miraculously find the money should find some money for OT rather than boro away.
You're not really up to speed with what I'm on about. If at any point you fathom what I am on about I'll check back into the thread.

Actually I would find the money for Boro away or even anywhere away but will never find money to go to the quiet neighbour's ground!! :-) My well earned pennies will never find its way into their coffers!!

Currently overseas again. It is costing me a fortune enrolled in all three cup shcemes. A lot of the games i cant make, however if i did not subscribe i would start going down the pecking order again

But that isn't the argument.

its part of it though. not in this thread I grant you but someone will say I couldn't afford to rack up the games. yet some games they do. odd!

Generally I think the Loyalty Points system seems to work ok and wouldn't like to see us move to a ballot system. I know some genuine Man U fans who've held season tickets for 25 years + and who only get tickets for 4 or 5 away games a season. Like "de niro" I worked in retail for 35 years and it is only in the last 10 years that I've not worked every Saturday. To be fair everything did fall into place a little in that we moved to the new stadium which created 12,000 more season tickets, the way TV operates 3pm Saturday KO's are a rare thing anyway and the introduction of the Platinum card has meant that I have been able to catch up on points. I was still a bit surprised at the 12,000 opening points requirement for the Cardiff game but hopefully there will still be availability on Saturday. Unfortunately to make away trips affordable you need to book well in advance so, if they sell out on Friday, there's a train ticket and a hotel room up for offers !

If a 7 year old lad can amass 8k loyalty points then that proves if you put the time/effort/money in you can quickly rise up the system.

But people want to get to the top of the table overnight, time and money equals too much effort for some.
I posted the following several years ago;
"No matter what system is in place there will be people who will complain because they miss out on tickets. I believe the club could be somewhat more transparent in the distribution of away tickets to corporate packages and supporters clubs so giving the 'normal supporter' a better clue on the likely level of points that an away match will sell out. My own view is that at present the system is quite fair. The solution I would propose to keep those on low points happy is that we keep the present system but for the high profile games where a sell out is guaranteed a small percentage of the tickets, maybe say 5%, are kept back and those who miss out could then apply for a ballot for a chance to purchase a ticket for the game. This may upset a few who just miss out by the points system but in my opinion would give the younger fans on lower points a chance of attending a game that they may otherwise have to wait 5,6,7 years before obtaining enough points for, whilst keeping the higher point supporters reasonably happy."
There were away games that didn't sell out last season, Swansea and Reading spring to mind, everyone had a chance to buy a ticket for these games and increase their points total, nobody will get to the top of the table overnight but with patience and dedication they will get there.

all these people moaning, did you go to the first away game at liverpool last season when they sold out to anyone with a season ticket? <a class="postlink" href="http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Tickets-and-Travel/2012/August/Liverpool-v-City-ticket-Update-20-Aug" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Tickets-and- ... ate-20-Aug</a> sold out on the Thursday.
