12 days of utter boredom....

I'd be surprised if that is the norm in England and then it would really need to be due to premier league exposure, in the smaller country's with less relevant competitions the national teams tend to be "good nationalist fun". Brexit really devides youre country that much?

Anywway i agree with the person youre replying too in the sense that England should give the young talents more chance to show themselves in such matches like against San Marino which should even be relativly easy for them.

Also England tried a bit too much smartypants in the WC and i was happy we beat you guys, twice for good measure

I am currently in Croatia and the pride they have in their national team is how it should be.

Brexit has divided this country beyond repair, a great deal of hatred between the two sides of that argument, clearly to be seen even within supporters of the same football team, have a read of the Brexit thread on here...sad state of affairs.

As for the world cup I think we did better than any expected, were I Belgian I would have been very disappointed not to have gone on and won it having got past Brazil. Fantastic squad with a good mix of experience and some outstanding young players.

Well we had to be proud of our boys eitherhow for a great performance and France had the strongest team by far on paper. They played nice and fun football and it was very enjoyable to watch. Personally i think English are taking the cup win too serious and often fail to appreciate their team trough it besides that this mentallity also often turns sour on certain of their key players which tends to be really sad. A more realistic and positive attitude could be something good for Englands confidence imho if perhaps the media could help a bit.

Why do the powers that be actually think an every day football fan is interested in this garbage.?

We are the great under achievers no doubt and the press dont help.

That said our inability to score from the penalty spot over the years has cost us and we have been victims of some dire refereeing decisions. These factors have seen us fall late in tournaments. Factions in the squad have also been an unacceptable problem over the years as has negative football. I am however more confident with the new found team spirit amongst the younger generation of players and the arrival of VAR we will do better in the coming years.

I cannot agree about the French you should have seen them off and do wonder if mentality and the history of your larger neighbour played a part and after all Croatia were the better team in the final in my view. I think to a degree France got lucky and the fact they won was a low point of what was a fantastic tournament. I honestly did not see much fun to watch them compared to several teams including Belgium. Like the Dutch perhaps at the final stages Belgium were short only off belief that they could should and had every right to have won the thing.

I don't think any world cup winner ever got it trough sheer luck, France didn't exactly meet the easiest teams in the tourney neither. We had arguably one of the best attacks of the tourney and yet we hardly could create chances versus France. France simply played a tourney where their quality didn't always show itself so much but they were efficient.

Yeah, lets hope that coincide's with a more positive attitude from the fans and media towards their national team.
