I took a full size inflatable paddling pool hahaha didn't last 2 minutes in the crowd. Loved that match, Elano was so unlucky.

Christ the footage in those videos makes it look like the 80s!
Great times, I loved that early takeover era and the years of our first ascent to the top, the excitement of aiming for each new milestone. Being at the top is great but we'll never experience a period like that again ('in my lifetime'!).

Loved being there....Caicedo (a player I always liked) was both brilliant and infuriating in equal measures. Micah had a great game I recall and we were camped in their half most of the second half. Elano also had one of his best games in blue. Atmosphere was on another level.
Was Gary banging her second half ?Always planned on going to this one as my GF at the time was half german, and was well up for it. (No pics or silly comments please)
Went to buy couple of tickets and discovered they had sold out in a day but could get hospitality, which if I remember were around 75 quid each but did include a sit down dinner.
Gary Owen was the host, first thing he says 'anyone here from Germany' GF jumps up and recites something in German and theres 200 pairs of eyes on us.
During the meal Gary comes over for a chat, clearly a nice guy and one of my fav players back in the day,
Eventually I left them to it and took my seat.
I think she polished of a couple of bottles of wine that night and I never saw her in the 2nd half !
Happy Days.
Incidentally prior to this i booked flights and hotel for Istanbul, went for a break anyway, bought a match ticket of a blue and saw a very young Fernandinho in the Final.

It was an amazing night, I remember queueing for ages to get in and when I took my seat it was already a cauldren of noise. The atmosphere was one of the best I had been in at the new ground, it was giving me goosebumps. I shudder to think what it would have been like had we won the tie.
