Always has a mistake in him even on his best form but the third choice CB will have, Stones is our best defender at the moment, even with all the Dias praise (as good as he has been for us).
If he is not happy with 3rd place then sell him, if THB go's well at Blackburn have him and Ake for rotation next season
 
Needs to lose some weight, get up to speed. Also think he tends to distribute too reflexively to the wings and pins fullbacks and wingers to the line in unfavorable positions...think it’s partly why we seem more labored sometimes with him. Much slower build and defenses get entrenched.

but most all of that right now is due to confidence i think, so it’ll come back. But most of all, hope everyone back there looks at what’s happened to themselves/team injury-wise in recent years, or to the likes of vvd, and actually wants to be in a system of defenders with healthy rotation.
 
It takes a certain kind of mentality to accept, even if you are individually one of the world's best, that this has to be about the squad and that the team is far more important than any individual. I imagine that once you accept that, the world is a much calmer place. Not accepting it, rejecting the notion that your place may be taken by someone equally competent, or sometimes even less competent, will result in the kind of stress that makes you try too hard, to do too much, to try to prove that your place is yours and nobody else's. My point is general but there is a suspicion that some players in the squad accept Pep's philosophy more than others. I also think that Aymeric has gone from the undisputed number one to an equal, alongside two truly formidable teammates, and that may be trickier to accept than if it had always been the case.
 
Absolute class player and unlucky in the sense that Stones & Dias are the best defensive partnership around , when a club is playing 60 games a sesaon we need top class players to step in and perform , and Laporte fits the bill , just hope he will accept playing second fiddle for the big games
 
Nearly back to his best. We can rely on this chap.

Despite having to watch Mendy go walkabout for 90 minutes on one side and then adding in Garcia getting muscled off every ball on the other for the last 15 as well. Thought Stones was better all around as he offered loads going forward and the goal but Laporte was excellent.

I have ZERO idea how Pep is going to find game time for Ake with Laporte, Stones, and Dias all playing so well.. Don't think it ends well for Ake.
 
The way he took initiative btonmake something happen as the game was slowly crawling to a draw was commendable.
