Fair enough but Laporte was being ignored before those four were even on the scene.
I think there has always been rumors that Laporte is also very quiet and reserved, Deschamps prefers more 'attitude' which is why he built the squad with the likes of Pogba, Mendy, Greizman and so forth.Oh yeah it's not a quality thing why he hasn't played. Clearly had a falling out with Deschamps, for whatever reason, but there have been many whispers that it is attitude related. Interestingly we had a similar thing here at City this season with Pep said to be unhappy with Laporte's response to being dropped following his mistake @ Spurs.
But the broader point here really is that France are one of the few nations that can cope just fine without him in their squad. And they won a World Cup before the four above were on the scene.
In all fairness, Laporte is pretty Spanish for a French guy.Strange for France to be so passive about a talent as good as Laporte...
If he does play for Spain, I’ll be pleased for him that he gets to play international football. But personally I think it’s outrageous to switch countries and I’ve never liked it. The whole point of international football is that you’re representing your country. Without that, it’s totally meaningless.
Win your place in your proper national side, and if you can’t then tough. I know he probably deserves a place and France are being a bit shit, but people get dealt a shit hand all the time. Giggs, Bale, Best etc didn’t play much in the major tournaments. Arteta hardly (never?) played for Spain to pick another example
