Happy with any combination of the three main boys starting and I’m happy to see Ake step up in certain games.
We are in an extremely healthy position right now at CB.
Just a top class LB to bring in or through(whichever happens first) and back four is set for a while yet.
Wherever we can keep them all happy is another argument for another thread.

Cancelo is a top class LB. He's the best in the league and the world this season. I doubt another LB out there could do better for us than Cancelo, given our style under Pep.

He is indeed. I’d be happy to see him finish career with us, love him.
Still, I’m not against us finally having a LB pushing him all the way, which I don’t feel zinchenko manages to. Not that I dislike Zinchenko, he’s done a good job in the main.

I was joking on Dias, he's exactly the type of leader I was talking about. Reminds me of Kolo in everything being positive and cajoling, you never see him get nasty with teammates like you do with some other vocal leaders. Just gets a bit annoying that Stones and Laporte apparently need him to perform when they've been superb together (and both alongside Otamendi as well who also wasn't seen as a leader).

Agree with you about Ake, thought it a strange signing but he looks a lot more comfortable this season and offers something different. Wouldn't have any worries with him starting with one of the others.
Remember, at the time Otamendi was leaving, and Stones was in the doghouse and many thought his head was gone and needed a change of Scenery and we were being stalked on Koulibally (Thank God!)

So at the time we were literally down to Laporte and Garcia as CBs with Dihno as their backup. We had to get someone in pronto! And Young Gullit looked the type who could make the step up.

Fortunately for us Dias deal came up and Stonesy sorted his mind and body out. So we went from 1 good defender in Laporte yo 4 in a matte of weeks

Based on the last year, for me it goes Stones first, then Laporte and Dias are equal after.

Ake is the one surprising me as I think he is improving alot and might force his way into the conversation.

Stones and Dias and then Laporte, IMO, but Aymeric is definitely in form and Ake is improving, for sure.

That's a bit perplexing. Why should we go by last season when we are well in the second half of this season, and Stones has started, what, 3 league games?

Dias was far more influential than Stones last season, it's not only about individual defensive actions, but the whole package of playing and leading on the pitch, plus being always available. Dias came last season and is already one of the captains, Stones isn't, despite being in his 6th season at the club.

Dias will probably stay as our main CB after the winter break. He played a bit too much (partly because the other 3 CBs had injury problems, especially Stones), and needed some rest.

Hopefully Stones will stay fit, we'll need him. I like him, just trying to be objective.

Aymeric Laporte has been fucking fantastic this season, and a huge part of why we’ve won 12 games on the bounce, because he’s played in most of them. That’s why Pep is picking him. Because - at the risk of understatement - Pep knows what he’s doing. And because Pep can bench Laporte for half a season if Pep’s not getting what he wants out of the player. He’s got a mistake or two in him. So do others. Look at what you get, though.

If Laporte went, we‘d need another top class Centre Half. And the kind of player we’d be after would look an awful lot like Laporte. And would cost a fuck of a lot more than we’d sold Laporte for.

Great goal tonight just watched it again. He heads that straight it’s saved. Heads it down with pace. Excellent
