I genuinely believe the scousers would have had 2 PL’s and potentially a quadruple (who knows what would have happened if they had won the league), if not for Laporte at the end of last season.

Played through the pain and was injured early in this season as a consequence.

May not be all roses this season, but we have a lot to thank him for.

I thought he was excellent yesterday. At least before the whole team fell apart.

I know its highly unlikely but I'm choosing to believe that his "the sun after the rain" tweet is referring to him bein back playing after something we are unaware of (e.g. he's back in Pep's good books, he's over some health issue, he's over some private personal issue).

I hope he stays.

I thought Laporte, like Walker, was very good considering the period of time he’s been out of the team.

Was sharp and played with a good attitude, like others have said I think he could still play an important part in the squad to the end of the season.

If he goes at the end of the season it’s probably a good thing for both parties if we bring in a younger player such as Gvardiol or Colwill. Keeps things fresh.

But the tail end of last season Aymeric was Herculean in that final push, will go with best wishes all round.

He also seems to be a really good older brother type figure to the young Spanish speaking players who join us.

If he goes, he goes. We're stacked in his position and he doesn't make it into my favourite CB pairing.

That being said, I don't really get why some people have been overly negative about him over the years. He's been a quality signing and helped us win some very important games and titles.

Not ideal but he’s an elite player-mature and more than capable of doing a good job at left back. He’s also going to be comparatively pretty fresh.

Really rate Laporte very highly but my memory from a few seasons back he wasn't great as a left back.
