Makes little sense for him to not be playing every game.

Not concerned about the bookings since Fernandinho will teach him the dark arts of not getting booked for cynical fouls.

Neat and tidy with the ball today, always waiting for the right moment to release the ball. This really was a Rodri light performance (bar the long balls to the wingers, and dribbles, but yeah, well). And he somehow also appeared in the right spaces when defending, winning the ball quick. And you didn't have the feeling once he was on a yellow that he'd fuck it up. Really impressive, even if he won't be the one who stole the show.

He’s an enabler. He connects the team better than anyone else we have. Not flashy, but he’s going to be an important cog moving forward.

think its the first time that nico and kova have played together, i said a few weeks ago these two should be at the center of the midfield, played really well today, helped us control the midfield after 25 minutes

When we’re on top in games, and penning teams in, he’s always in the right place at the right time. Reminds me of that immense game Rodri had in his first year away at Burnley. Got a real sense of danger and over time he’ll develop that in all aspects of play, like Rodri has.

I don’t really think he does. He’s just bedding him in and the 6/8 position is the position Pep demands the most from.

Good that he played the full 90 today too.
