Completely agree, my only solution is to play Fernandinho which as you say is ridiculous considering his age.

I think Pep feels like we have no other choice, who else can he play in midfield? Fernandinho and Tommy Doyle? Gundogan is out, we all know hes coming back in first opportunity though I guess.

That goes back to last summer and the, why buy him in the first place argument?

I’m no scout but the issues where there last ore season in Japan. Me first words were ‘he’s fucking slow’

What do we do, protect him, stick him at centre back or try and off load him(unlikely) - the whole balance of a very successful side has been changed by him. Not entirely his fault, of course but because of his limitations we are scratching round looking for solutions

I can understand the reasoning for buying him as he has a lot of the qualities that Pep no doubt demanded it but definitely is odd that you would spend that money and seemingly expect him to be a cornerstone for the team but then not put the correct players in around him.

Amazing, amazing passer. World class. No doubt whatsoever. Otherwise.... I've seen some pretty great foreign players utterly lost on English pitches. And Spanish pitches, and Italian pitches. But especially English ones. It's just horses for courses. Is he the right fit for our team? Just as Alonso came of age when played alongside Mascherano, this guy would look very potent alongside Kanté, or a young Fern.

I didn't like his quote, BTW. Don't say that. Don't expect luck. Don't be such a neurotic to explain failure as an unfair world. It's just not how to improve. You must make sure your contribution suits the game. Or learn, learn SOMETHING. He's still 23, new to this league, and says he thinks the game is being unfair? Fuck OFF. You're far too young an inexperienced to assume you've got so much knowledge or experience that, woah - it's not within MY power to have made the difference. Especially after today, I mean, c'mon kid. That was awful.

But I often don't like Pep's quotes either. Or who he plays in the centre. So, you know.

What's this with "right players around him" - Fernandinho has ran a one man army show at CM for years. It's a matter of being a player capable of playing in a world-class team. We can't be dependent on Rodri having the right players next to him? Good players make their team-mates better and vice versa.

Puzzling that we weren't in for Thiago, and the fact that Pep said that we were covered in that position is very strange, considering what a glaring weakness it is.

Since the takeover, apart from a brief spell with Fernando and Javi Garcia (although he was really good the second part of the 13/14 season), I feel that our strength in DM/CM was one of the biggest factors to us dominating the 10's. Now, with Rodri/Gundo and an aging Dinho, the nearest future is extremely worrying.

Horrible quotes - Even by Pep - You create your own fortune, if you play shit, you get what you deserve 9 times out of 10.

Rodgers admitted that he had to change tactically for this game as he normally plays offensive/aggressive football, and credit where credit's due, that's how you get the 3 points often against us.

His signing just proves how bad the scouting system is at City. Surely any scout could see he wouldn’t cut it in the PL.

He’s a really poor Javi Garcia and I’m not too optimistic on how good Dias is based on our recruitment over the last 12 months.

Over £150m on Cancelo, Rodri, Ake and Torres is embarrassing.

I do wonder what the intended style of play was when we bought him for a club record fee? If it was to replace Fernandinho then some heads need rolling as he can't run, can't tackle, can't win 50/50s and can't pass forward. What's even more alarming is that we tried getting Jorginho before him. Another who can't do any of those things. Why was this profile of player so highly sought by the club? It makes no sense.

at halftime or just before why didnt we drop back 5 yards into our own half stretch the game and keep control, all they did was wait the lob it over the top when we pushed on through frustration

Our system only needs one defensive midfielder , with three or four midfielders / forwards pressing 100% to stop any transition , we need mobility and pace , Rodri , Gundo and Dinho do not have this so you can only risk one plodder/water carrier , the rest of the team have to be 100% in the opposition faces , its worked since Pep arrived , and i dont know why he has changed his philosophy, its not working
