Great game again. His press resistance and ability to turn out of trouble seems to have gone up a level too, there was some great reading of the game and the spaces today.

Rodri has been fantastic this season. He is a classic holding midfielder. He is not (and has never been a replacement for Fern). He is like a souped-up version of Nigel de Jong.

How satisfying at seeing this develop...
He’s an absolute beast of a unit, just keep your eye on the support he provides in small spaces, it’s exceptional, affords his teammates to beat the press but should it not come off he’s recovers it almost every time..... so pleased for the kid!

I saw pep in the interview say hes not taking them again ans he was lucky but again he was laughing. Who knows?In Rodri’s post match interview he said there was a discussion after the game about the penalty, and he said he’s having then from now on whilst laughing and carried on laughing when he said he ignored Ederson’s advice.
Well Rodri, you haven’t done any worse than anyone else fella!

People saying this is a turnaround..it isn't, he's always been this good, he just needed help in midifeld, which he is now getting. There isn't a cdm in the world that would have looked good for us last season, Kev high up the pitch, Dave didn't defend anymore, fullbacks out wide, he was being asked to do all the defending on his own and he often got over-ran as a result. Having Sane speed wouldn't have made a difference either, the change of system has let him flourish and show us what he can do without having to play on the backfoot all game.

Really good to see how well he is doing.
