And Pep, when signing Rodri, was unaware of this aspect of English football?

Why are people so confident they know better than Pep and Txiki what we need in midfield? Reminds me of the pundits predicting Pep's failure in England because he didn't get English football.

There's a nice empirical refutation of the view that a non-fast DM would make us vulnerable. It's when Gundogan replaced Fernandinho at DM after the latter's injury in February 2019 and we continued to be rock solid.
I don't think I know better than anyone, having watched him for a season I don't think he's sharp enough to play that role, I suspect Busquets may have had similar issues, although tbf I think he moves the ball a lot quicker than Rodri.

Good, mate, I don't pretend to know better than other fans either, but it seems to me that the negative opinion on Rodri is premature and unjustified. Time will tell.

Busquets always had the advantage of 3 or 4 magicians in front of him which meant he was very rarely required to move more than a few yards. As good as he was/is......He was allowed to build and dictate play.

True, something that pissed me off against Leicester, and I've seen very little reference to it, is that the movement from our front 4 was non existent for large parts, no one trying to find the pockets of space, no one dropping short, no runs being made in behind, no options for Rodri or Fernandinho to pass to. The front four were strolling.

Spot on,it was infuriating.Maybe it was tiredness, but the likes of Mahrez and Sterling just didn't help out the rest of the team - they were happy to let others take responsibility and put the graft in.

Perhaps that also highlights our other problem,a lack of leadership and fight.I'm hoping, like everyone else i imagine, that Dias along with Laporte's return can help remedy that.
