Yes its his job to mark everyone at the same time and cover all of the pitch at the same time too. You talk some shit

Oh just bore off, the guy is as immobile as Garcia, and is not even better than Gareth Barry.

Fernandinho used to cover for the likes of Yaya and Silva, due to that our midfield's fluidity didn't use to suffer, because Ferna's mobility allowed them to move further up the pitch, while Bernardo's creative side of the game clearly gets affected when he has to cover for Rodri. Last night was the testament to that, as soon as Guardiola allowed Bernardo to vacate his position to exploit Madrid's midfield, not only we looked more threatening but Madrid players started to ran ring around Rodri.

Put Maldini and Nesta in the defense, they would choke too, if they have Rodri jogging in front of them, and that coincides with Dias vacating his position last night more than few number of times to carry forward the ball, who clearly didn't trust Rodri to evade Madrid's press.

Here is a simple question to those who gets orgasm whenever Rodri scores a screamer, would we be still in the title race, if Bernardo, who is not a defensive midfielder, had left us in the summer? We would be anyway, if we had prime Fernandinho.

Maldini and Nesta had Pirlo playing in front of them, didn’t they? Hardly known for his last-ditch tackles and diligent defensive covering

Except now football is twice as competitive, and they didn't have to face oposition players who press like madmen.

A fun stat, how our defense bottles (they don't) in these sorts of games, any defense would become vulnerable if the opposition players bypass the midfield as soon as they get the ball.

I remember us falling to pieces against Liverpool, Monaco and Spurs with Fernandinho playing, so not sure this can be attributed to Rodri

Referesh your memory a bit, prime Ferna carried us to the Champions League semifinal and suffocated Madrid's attack that had the likes of Bale and Ronaldo. Against Tottenham, Guardiola had a brainfart again, and didn't start Fernandinho, versus Monaco at home, Ferna was playing as a left back.

I’ll give you Tottenham but Fernandinho played DM when we lost 3-1 in Monaco and against Liverpool when we got turned over 3-0 at Anfield

It’s really more of a tactical/mentality issue than a personnel one

Kolarov lost his man twice, was playing as a center-back that day. It's poor finishing, and the perception that midfielders in the mould of Busquets would work against teams that press relentlessly and have got pacy forwards. It's not a surprise that after their yearly thrashing at the hands of Bayern, Barcelona fans end up crucifing Busquets, and now for the very same reason they want to offload De Jong.

Please explain to me how any of Madrid’s goals were Rodris fault.
