It's a finely tuned engine, little changes have a knock on effect on overall performance.
Yes, but giving the ball straight to the opposition uncontested, failing to control basic 15 yard passes, letting balls bounce before dealing with them are individual errors that shouldn't be happening regardless.

Rodri, zinchenko, Dias and Ederson all had shakier than usual games, which they're allowed, it's only become more than a passing comment because they were all in the same game. We're fortunate it's happened against the shitest team in the league, chalk it down as not the best performance and move on. I don't expect it to be an issue for any of them going forward.

Ok I’ve got a song for Rodri. I can’t create my own posts as I don’t have privileges. Anyway so it’s to the tune Call on me by Eric Prydz.

Basically it goes

Roooddriiiiiiiii Rodri Roooodddrrrriii Rodri

here’s the video purely for educational purposes.

feel fee to repost this on the main forum if anyone thinks it’s a decent idea. Which it probably isn’t. I’ll get me coat

A good article about Rodri on Sky Sports website today. Warning: not suitable reading for Rodri sceptics still hiding in the woodwork.

He was playing at centre back in that game.
Was he? Pretty sure this was the game that Pellegrini tried Fernando and Milner in the middle together and then never did it again. There's a clip of three Barca players doing a little triangle round Fernando while he just spins in a circle.

EDIT: Ah, of course. Kompany went off injured, Clichy was sent off, so Pellegrini sent on Fernandinho and Sagna and moved Fernando into defence for the last bit of the game.

Lol. I didn't read the date. I thought they were comparing Rodri to Fernando's most recent appearance for Sevilla against Barcelona.

Jules Kounde pushed out to Right back, Karim Rekik played at Left back.

Fernando has always been a limited player, he is a marking specialist. Had a decent career before and since leaving us though, problem is some expected him to be more than just a marking specialist.

I think most people in football want a player to be more than a “marking specialist” to be fair.

Easily the worst defensive mid we’ve had in the Mansour era.

Javi Garcia=Fernando. Only thing that could swing it for Javiare his performances filling in at centre back.

But you have forgotten Jack Rodwell.

Marking specialist refers to a particular type of defensive midfielder, very commonly produced in Brazil. Gilberto Silva and Felipe Melo being two notable examples. Neither being the most technically proficient or a master playmaker but there to break up play and keep it simple.
