There was one incident in the match today where he just bulldozed the ball away from a Fulham player. I properly lol'ed. What a player.

All I can do is apologise AGAIN , what a fucking Rolls Royce of a player , shows I know fuck all about the game , I salute you sir .

Not great today, slows everything down for me, gundo gets accused of slowing it down but he has a change of direction in him while Rodri play's it safe and often backwards.

I don’t like saying that X player needs Y player next to him to get the best out him. However we have seen time and time again how well Rodri and Bernie work together. We are also seeing a pattern emerging of the midfield being overrun when Gundo is next to him. I think Gundo is the problem in this midfield, he can’t run, and that leaves Rodri exposed and isolated.

Agree, Gundogan/Rodri combination has been abysmal once again.

Unrecognisable performance. That wasn’t Rodri!

Awful, slow, not concentrating at times.

Laporte

Rodri - DM / CB

Love all of them but we have to get rid of one of the 5 CB's that we currently have (at least one of them). As it stands Rodri has shown that he can hold that position down if or when the need arises.
He can but we need a fit DM to replace him.

Problem is, our centre-backs are also our full-back cover.

If we sell a centre-back then Walker or Cancelo is unavailable, Pep will generally play a CB on the left or right rather than trusting one of the younger prospects there. Then we're down to three available centre-backs, so we're one injury or suspension away from having no cover (except Rodri, but then we're dependent on Phillips being fit too).

So I don't think we can sell one of them without addressing our serious lack of full-backs first.

We constantly shift to a back 3 anyways, there's no reason in certain games against low blocks, we can't use him as an elite passing CB with Phillips in front of him, and in bigger games, perhaps shift him back to DM with a more proper CB behind him. For example:

Eddie

Stones/Walker/Akanji
Rodri/Dias
Ake/Laporte

Phillips/Rodri/Bernie

6 attacking players in front.

You can also easily transition to this from say a 4231 with any two of Rodri/Phillips/Bernie in the 2, then let the fullbacks go wide, wingers (Grealish, Foden, Mahrez, Palmer) come inside (which all 4 would prefer, and have Rodri/Phillips drop between the CBs with Phillips/Bernie sitting in front, recreating a 3151 high attacking setup, best against these low blocks.

In either scenario, we can kind of allow Cancelo/Lewis/Gomez be less of a liability at the back and let them be wider players, or we can use classical wingers in there in which case we have 2 phenomenal wide-men in the academy who would be a phenomenal addition to our squad to do this.
