I disagree, Fern at his prime was lauded by ex pros and opponents, they knew how good he was.

Fernandinho is the legend..

But Rodri is the best defensive midfielder I have ever seen since 2000, cause that's the year when i started watching football..

If we divide DM's role into three parts: defensive play, attacking play, midfield domination..

Defensive play: Fernandinho World Class, Rodri World Class
Attacking Play: Fernandinho average, Rodri world class
Midfield: Fernandinho Good, Rodri World Class..

Casimero was a part of a great side like Fern both high class in their prime.

But many people outside our club still thinks the trophy haul especially the CL one is make them a higher rated player.

Hence why Casemiro will be rated way better because he have CL throphy compared to Fernandinho by most people.

I think it's stupid but that's the majority football fans opinion.

I really don't worry what people think outside the club, just listen to their fellow professionals talk about our players.

It's a dick waiving contest, the fact remains a Casimero, Rodri, Fern were magnificent players, you don't play for the top clubs and stay at the top clubs if your not.

If a manager of the caliber of Pep raves about you, you are a baller.

Rodri is, quite simply, the best defensive midfielder in the world, bar none. End of story.

His stats prove it, too.



He is the most consistent, best, player in the best team in the world and, bar the unbelievable goals scored by Erling Haaland, was the best player in the world in 2023…and it’s continuing into 2024!

Yes, he was a great player. But no one thought he was the best DM in the world outside of City.

In Dihno's prime the following were always deemed at som point or the other to be superior:

Busquet, Kante and Casemiro.


For those who weren't City fans Dihno was on par with Fabihno and Brosovic. With some deeming him better and others not. But roundly outside of City no one thought he was as good as the aforementioned 3. Not even Brazilians in Brazil.


He was great for us, but most didn't see 'World's Best' in him like City fans saw.

In Rodri, everyone does!! Too many miss this distinction.

I think comparisons are pointless, they both have different attributes, better and worse in certain situations.

I'll remember one, and enjoy the other, until the next one comes along.

Fernandinho is great and a historic for us, but Rodri is simply the better player. Fernandinho, even at his peak, had competition for the best DM (some people would say he was, other Casemiro, other Kante, other Busquets), but with Rodri the conversation is not whether he is the best DM or not. The conversation is whether he is the best midfielder in the world. When is the last time that a DM was top 5 for Ballon D'Or and even then, a lot of people think he should have been higher.

Not to mention that Rodri is also the most important and best player in his national team.

We weren't the best team in Europe at that time with Fern, he was a magnificent player and hugely regarded by his fellow pros, that's the only judgement worth listening to for me.
