As good as he is, Fernandinho (in his pomp) has(IMO) been a level above him. That's not criticising Rodder's, but Fernandinho was the best DM the PL has ever seen. But Rodri will probably become a better player, that's a good yardstick on where Rodri is right now i think.
Not to compare 2 great but Dihno at his best wasn't close. I know Rodders doesn't make crunching tackles, but he is multiple levels above at most things a DM does.

Rodri is so clear of Fernandinho, shame you can't see it, Ferna was class too though.

When we bought him from Atletico for 60/70mil, who would've thought he'd become as good as he is today?

Credit to our scouting department or whoever wanted Rodri, they really saw something in him.

I have posted a lot of shite on this forum, but the one thing I can be proud of is the fact that I am on the right side of history when half this forum wrote him off in his first season.

When it is all said and done he might go down as our best ever player

Don’t think we’ve ever seen a player with his skill set at the club. The calmness he has on the ball and the ability to keep it moving in all directions is quite something to witness.
Opposition players rarely even bother pressing him too hard these days because they are aware it’s a waste of time and often results in them looking stupid.
Add in the fact he’s strong as an ox, can score and assist and allows all the players ahead of him to stretch the defences with their movement whilst he just pops off passes with ease makes him already one of the best we’ve ever had.
It’s hard not to be in awe watching him.

He is also an out and out winner, incredibly strong mentally and a wonderful leader.

A lot of people in Spain did to be fair.

Atletico were trying to rip up that €65m release clause before he even played a game for them.

He signed a deal for the summer with Atleti around Christmas 2017, then was one of the best midfielders in Spain for the rest of the season at Villarreal, so Atleti wanted to give him a completely new contract with a stupid release clause before he'd even been announced as an Atletico Madrid player, but he turned them down not wanting to tie himself to Simeone's style of play in case it didn't suit him.

By the time we came calling in summer 2018, everyone in Spain knew he was going to be world class and his release clause was a massive bargain.

Luke Lockyer the(heart attack victim)Luton captain said he was in awe of him on the pitch. Said it was incredible to see him close up close .You can't get near him and even if you do he's done you because he's just delaying a pass.
I caught this on a podcast on iPlayer.
