Our reliance on Rodri is worrying, 4 defeats out of 5 without him. His agent has got City over a barrel next time his contract is up for renewal.

what if he gets a bad injury like 2-3 months out? we are piss lucky that has not happened to him in his time at City so far.

we are very bad without him and that is made much more worse by the amount of money we spent on mediocre midfielders last few windows.

The funny thing is that if Rodri was out for 2-3mths id fully expect Pep to solve it. Like we did when Fernandinho was out and Gundo stepped in and we won 14 in a row.

Rodri being out for 1match almost seems to mean Pep doesnt put any thought in how to replace him, its just trying to get through the 90 until hes back.

Obviously, there's no doubt how amazing of a player Rodri due to his individual talent + outrageous impact he has for Manchester City. Personally, I would even suggest that Rodri is not only the most important player for the club. He is the best player, period.

Which says something where the likes of KDB, Haaland, Stones and loads of other quality players Man City have.

This season alone, Man City have lost 3 straight games due to Rodri's suspension and got completely dominated by Aston Villa last night in his absence. Man City's title aspirations depends almost entirely on Rodri's availability.

Man City won the Premier League few years ago with KDB missing for almost the entire campaign. I believe Man City would be just as fine if Haaland, Stones, Dias or any other starter gets a season ending injury. However, Rodri is the exception.

Do you think Rodri has done enough to be regarded as a GOAT-candidate as the best holding midfielder alongside Busquets, Matthaus, Gullit etc?

Come the end of his career, then probably, but he needs to do it for a decade to be in that bracket, although Gullit was far more of a forward than a defensive midfielder. He dropped back later on in his career.

Pirlo could be added too.

We missed him but we haven't exactly been at our brilliant best even with him this season.

When he is on the pitch, you never feel you are not the superior team. I felt the team was losing faith in the victory, and in that moment, Rodri took the ball and started going forward and dribbling.

Night and day when he is in the starting 11.
