Was just looking at Rodri's playing time in the league this season against last year. Keep wishing we could kill teams off and substitute him early, but then that only happened twice at home all last season in the League (Forest and Leicester) and twice on the road (Wolves and Bournemouth); Wolves were down to ten in that one as well.

In the first sixteen league matches of last season, he missed the demolition of that lot but played 1,093 minutes. In the first sixteen league matches of this season, despite the fact that he missed half a game after being sent off and then missed three whole games for suspensions, he has still managed to play more minutes, 1,125. Not a massive difference, granted, but then in a lot of games this season he's probably had to do a great deal more running than he did in those games last year. Hope he enjoys his rest tonight and that we find a solution soon.

We need a top quality DM to play alongside him or instead of him. That was meant to be Phillips but I it isn’t. Hopefully January sorts it out.

One would hope so, but the more he plays and the more reliant we become on him, the harder it seems to be to find a viable alternative. Even had we signed Rice or Paqueta, I suspect people would still have been talking about the drop off in quality. I’m resigned to the situation continuing for the remainder of this season, though perhaps minus Phillips, but that continuation may mean signing players ahead of him who are better at keeping the ball or maybe resting Haaland/Doku more. Tricky one.

If you take in to account spanish defensive playmakers like Pep, Alonso and to a degree Arteta, combined with Rodris intelligence and leadership he is going to be one hell of a manager

I have not heard one voice saying anything other than Rodri is a footballing god.

Even the Dipper/Rag media love him, that just shows how well he is respected in football and rightly so, he is a magnificent footballer.

Played well, especially in the first half, I don’t think the make up of the defence is helping him though, once that’s sorted it should help him dominate games again. He’s superb and we are lucky to have him.
