Some Gooner fans saying Rice is better than Rodri, no doubt he has improved Arsenal, but Rodders is a level above.

It's baffling, he even scored the winner in a CL final as well. It‘s odd that he never gets the recognition that lesser players get or have received in the past.
Perhaps if he had a gangsta rapper haircut and acted like a **** at nightclubs our media would hail him as the greatest midfielder in the world. Which of course, we know that he is because we see him play football.
It's only because he plays for us.It‘s odd that he never gets the recognition that lesser players get or have received in the past.

I was listening to a podcast this week and they said exactly the same. They were talking about the back line but this likely applies to Rodri more than anyone. Essentially they said we if we pay $$ and our signing does well, no one says anything because the expectation is because they were $$ and they play for Man City so they will be a world beater. And signings like Akanji that are low cost also don’t get any credit because “they are playing for City, of course they’re excellent.” And anything less than perfect means they’re often unfairly criticized (eg any game Haaland doesn’t score). In someways a symptom of our success, but individually it means players often don’t get their plaudits. It's only because he plays for us.
It's been the same with all our top players the last 12 or so years.
They'd be nationally revered if they played for any other team.
