16 | Rodri 2025/26

Phwoar. Rusty to say the least but still a big figure to have in there. Seemed to get loads better after Dias had a word with him about 20 minutes in.

If he is fit and ready, keep giving him 60 minutes so he can find his form again.

I would love to see Nico Gonzalez playing beside him.

Got to go through it i'm afraid. This is why i always fought back on those saying "rodri will be back next season and we'll be fine" this isn't Rodri, we won't see Rodri until the latter part of the season all being well, just an unavoidable consequence of a long injury.

Should have been subbed off 15 minutes before he was, he was knackered, the second he is knackered he has to come off as the potential for injury increases drastically. I hope he doesn't play against Napoli as I would be really fearful of him playing 3 games in a week.

Looked rusty today and listening to Ruben Interims interview, their plan exactly was to ambush him each time he received the ball. Anyway, better than any back up dross we have seen while he has been out and things will continue to improve with him

He's still far from full match fitness.
He lost the ball quite a few times in the first half but unbelievably improved in the second half.
Hopefully he'll get there even if it means making mistakes on the way.
If putting up with a few performances like this to get him to where he was then so be it because we ain't the same team without a fully fit Rodri

This might seem OTT but I’m being deadly serious - I don’t think last season Doku gets the pass that Rodri gave him for the first goal. A simple, forward, 5-yard pass to allow him to turn rather than the easy, sideways option.

It’s something we missed massively last season.

There was one long pass he made to Bernardo that showed me the class is still there, he just needs to get to full match fitness and sharpness.

100 percent this. Rodri despite being rusty was extremely influential. We also lost all shape and control once he went off. A few stray passes here and there and a little bit rusty and hes still a mile better than other option in that position for us and key to us performing.

He's going to be slower and less rodri like, more inconsistent, its nature of that injury. As long as he consistently plays, and doesn't get niggles that keep him out I reckon we'll see prime-rodri after Christmas.

Perhaps - but it's also likely that he's building into form - which I suspect.

My sole reservation against Rodri - is that Rodri seems to be glass... a matter of time until he picks up another debilitating injury requiring 6-months plus to recover. I hope that I'm wrong in the "glass" assessment b/c Rodri is the best player in world football when on form (and able to start).

Hasn't he only ever had one proper injury?
