Fulsome praise for the 'captains' (plural) from Pep post match. Could be connected.Phwoar. Rusty to say the least but still a big figure to have in there. Seemed to get loads better after Dias had a word with him about 20 minutes in.
100 percent this. Rodri despite being rusty was extremely influential. We also lost all shape and control once he went off. A few stray passes here and there and a little bit rusty and hes still a mile better than other option in that position for us and key to us performing. This might seem OTT but I’m being deadly serious - I don’t think last season Doku gets the pass that Rodri gave him for the first goal. A simple, forward, 5-yard pass to allow him to turn rather than the easy, sideways option.
It’s something we missed massively last season.
Perhaps - but it's also likely that he's building into form - which I suspect. He's going to be slower and less rodri like, more inconsistent, its nature of that injury. As long as he consistently plays, and doesn't get niggles that keep him out I reckon we'll see prime-rodri after Christmas.
Hasn't he only ever had one proper injury?Perhaps - but it's also likely that he's building into form - which I suspect.
My sole reservation against Rodri - is that Rodri seems to be glass... a matter of time until he picks up another debilitating injury requiring 6-months plus to recover. I hope that I'm wrong in the "glass" assessment b/c Rodri is the best player in world football when on form (and able to start).

So, yes, prior to his knee injury he'd only missed 5 games for us in 5 years![]()

And since then... he's been glass. I very much hope that his injury trajectory as of late is an anomaly - nonetheless it's a very worrying sign. So, yes, prior to his knee injury he'd only missed 5 games for us in 5 years
