18/19 home and away kits ?

Everyone I know would prefer the shirt without sleeve sponsor so making it optional is a good thing not moronic and not anti supporter.
Difference of opinion, of course, but making it optional makes paying for a sleeve sponsor no less moronic or anti-supporter in my mind.

It is by no means the end of the world as we know it, of course, but I think it is a practise that should in no way be encouraged with our purchases (or voices).

Had they put in the shirt as a required element, without increasing the cost of the shirt (even so far as further subsidising the cost of it), then I would have no issue. It is a sponsorship—they are paying the club (and implicitly whomever wears the shirt) to advertise their brand/product.

Basically, I'd like to exert the bare minimum energy necessary to make it obvious that this is a moronic attempt squeezing more money of supporters, which includes debating about it on here and not buying the optional badges. That's it, nothing more. ;-)
Bit much to take in Sunday morning ( allotment factors, net payments , deal structure ) but guess your saying it's a bit daft ;-)
In the day and age of advertisement why would you pay somebody to to advertise there product, the shirt should be subsidised by Nexen £6 cheeper if you get there badge not increased by £6
Haha, yes, I'd just made my patented quadruple espresso and was inspired by the caffeine high. And agreed.

really don't get the point. If you want a nice normal plain shirt, it's the normal price. If you want all the fancy badges and official sleeve sponsor which most fans don't, then you can buy it.

The alternative is the silly sleeve sponsor goes on automatically which will piss everyone else off. The fact is I think most of the exposure is the fact is the sponsor will be on Silva's shirt, not Dave from Gorton's.

I'm arguing principles, BJL. The badges should be separate if they want to make the sponsorship (paid advertising) a truly optional element of the shirt. Or, it should be on the shirt, with the sponsorship used to lower the cost of the normal shirt. In that case, I gladly take the sleeve sponsor for a lower priced shirt; unfortunately, that's not the way of the world (especially these days, where entire advertising teams exist to find ways to further squeeze more money of out consumers for fabricated "features": "Now you can buy The special edition "Speedo" Porsche, which is twice as fast on the track as the standard model, as we've removed all the nice bits that added weight").

To your second point, of course it is, but my argument has nothing to do with from where the main benefit to the sponsor comes—why would it be when we are discussing supporters paying to add advertising to the shirt for a company paying the club to advertise it's brand. That is a separate factor entirely and I agree with your thoughts.

All that said, maybe this discussion is more suited for Off Topic, so I'll let it go.

is it £6 for badges? Correct me if I'm wrong, is that not the same as last season? So you pay £6 for the Prem badges as normal, and get free the Nexen tyre badge so you have the complete set of sleeve badges. So it's included free if you want sleeve badges.

My argument applied to your question (in the interest of brevity): the badges should be less expensive than last year, not the same price, given the inclusion of the sponsor logo. It's similar to buying a new Porsche for the same price as your last but now with "free racing stripe and Tesco wing decals".

To avoid further hijacking the thread, PM me if you want to continue to discuss.

no they shouldn't. In fact they should be more expensive because they have additions, the fact they're the same shows that you're getting a free addition. The PL badges cost the same.

maybe they have thought or been told by the PL to make it optional this year as it is a new concept from tradition, see how the reaction is for a season, then maybe make them mandatory like the main shirt sponsor from the season after next.

will be interesting if all PL clubs with a sleeve sponsor follow suit or make it mandatory already.

It says on the official pre order site prem "badge" not badges? maybe just one badge & sleeve sponsor??
