Some of this is spot on mate, but some of it definitely doesn't represent "practically every City fan out there".
I did a survey of 1000 City fans, it's posted on an earlier kit thread. The findings were:
98% wanted white shorts, so you're right on that one.
White trim was most popular, but plenty like navy trim as well. Black trim wasn't included in the survey, but it's not a traditional City colour, so I doubt it's very popular.
The shoulder yokes this year were extremely unpopular.
Actually, the most popular sock combination by far on the survey was sky blue with maroon turnovers. Followed by sky blue with white turnovers, followed by all navy blue, followed by blue and white hoops, followed by all white, which only had around 10% of the vote.
Although you think white socks look classier, the majority of City fans surveyed thought they looked like Lazio's kit and not City's. Blue socks are overwhelmingly more popular among City fans for City kits than all white.
It's also worth noting that Nike haven't tried to "introduce" navy to a City kit. It was introduced over 100 years ago and has made up a part of our kit for over 90 years, and 80 of them they were our primary sock colour. Navy blue is a traditional City colour, no matter how uneasy that sits with some people ;-)
