I'd welcome safe standing I really would although I think it might be quite difficult to implement at the Etihad due to the angle of the terracing/concrete. However we can bang this drum as much as we want. Until we have a huge change in the law it isn't going to happen. And lets not look at it through rose tinted specks. The atmosphere on the old Kippax was often shit.

why on earth would it be difficult to implement at the Etihad?

Don't get this either, the average person's head will be the same height above the row in front as it is now or the same height as the row in front if each step takes more than one row. Kids and smaller adults may be at a disadvantage though.

will be the same for a small adult or child when sat down too as the person in front is sat in front so just the same disadvantage to being a small adult or child stood up

It's not the same because you don't have to take the length of the tall persons legs in to account when they are sat down. Everyones waist is the same height off the floor when they are sat on a seat the same height.

Let's not get hung up on the length of peoples legs. The fact of the matter is they would have the choice! If you're 4 ft 10, then you would probably choose to sit rather then stand. But they wouldn't be stopped from standing, it would be THEIR choice. Let the little people make up their own mind! :P

If it doesn't make a difference how would you feel stood behind me. I'm 6' 8" and 17 stone.

Well I probably wouldn't say much.

Anyway, it's a stupid argument. If you were sat in front of someone who was less than 5ft tall there would be the same problem again, so it's pointless to say it's a downfall of standing.

Your forgetting about legs again. We stand in the south stand my lads have to stand on their seats to see, when we get moved for cup games they can see perfectly fine sat down.

If anyone is missing the point it is you 'stewadda'

The simple fact is the majority of the stadium will still stay seated even if it is implemented. If it were to be implemented within the stadium it would be in the south stand and the corner blocks of 111 etc (at least that would the logical thing to do) so this would mean the people who already stand would still be standing making no difference to their match day experience apart from making it safer for them (something to hold onto when we score or something to lean on when the effects of the alcohol start to take their toll)

The length of someones legs is irrelevant.

Also i get the feeling you may be 5 ft 5 and have something against people who are taller than you ;)

I'm 5 ft 9 and have nothing against taller people. I'm just pointing out there is a difference between a small person sitting behind a tall person and a small person standing behind a tall person. Which keeps being said there is no difference when clearly there is because people keep forgetting about legs. No one was arguing it wouldn't matter because everyone in them areas stand anyway.
I'm all for safe standing like I said we already stand in the south stand and presume the kids will be able to stand on the seats that have been folded away.

i dont think people are forgetting about legs i just dont think anyone cares.

you never know someone might have short legs and a long body and long neck. Then your leg theory has fell flat on its arse.

im pretty sure the discussion is about safestanding and not about people with abnormaly long legs anyway.
