if the club endorse a safe standing area then so be it, i dont think it would greatly improve atmosphere with safe standing

Earlier in the season I went to Bristol Rovers (Conference) with some relatives and they had standing terraces, and trust me, the atmosphere was electric and the place was rammed. We could really do with safe standing.

Sometime last season i went to Harrogate to see Darlington with a darlo mate, standing, the place was rammed and the atmosphere brill, took me right back to why i first started being hooked on football..it took a trip back to grass roots footy to really strengthen my resolve..all seater stadiums are basically crap..give folk a choice, and reduce the prices for standing..£10..why not? seriously why not??
the clubs can afford it, give the younger generation the chance to attend within their budget, not having to sit with parents and behave in that fucking sterile antiseptic atmosphere.ffs

I'm all for bringing standing back, held the banner against hull and constantly pushing for it.

But I can't help thinking wtf is going on seriously when you look at the pictures of the blue seat rails / safestand units. I mean we are not learning to stand all over again as we have been standing up since 9 months old, they look like lines of zimmer frames welded together. I've stood up at EDS games, rugby, lower league on normal terrace without feeling as though I was going to fall over or start a mass riot.

Ok we know eufa insist to play in their chumps league that you must have some sort of all seat stadium to be highly credited enough to play in their most gracious cup, but how patronising is it to be inprisoned in 10 ton of scaffold to watch a game of football !

Who knows the penny may drop in years to come with those loons who have set this rule.

Great post.

I'm all for safe standing but I don't know that it is really going to make a huge difference to the atmosphere. There isn't that great an atmosphere generated in the areas which allow standing at the moment. It's just the way Premier League football has gone and I can't see the atmosphere of the 'good old days' coming back anytime soon.

Sometimes in fact many times in the "good old days " the atmosphere was crap

Turns you into football hooligans, took my boy to the nycfc game today and within 5 mins of being in the standing end he chanted does your boyfriends know you're here at the Bromby fans, was looking to blame my ex for the way she is raising him but i don't hear a peep from him when we are in seated areas.

Persistent standing has been going on years (since we moved to the new stadium and before at Maine Road for the North Stand and AA lower)...have you considered moving to a seated part of the ground at all? Just asking. For example the second tier which isn't that much more expensive in the south stand.

Perhaps ground expansion will sort all these issues out once and for all if the club get a grip of the issue properly.

i like where i sit i have sat there for years, and its only this season that standing has been coming round to my part of the south stand. I should not have to relocate because of the selfishness of others in an all seater stadium. Me moving seats is NOT the answer

The demand is so high for big standing sections that problems like the one you find yourself in are going to happen more and more in the next few years. It's a very British attitude of 'I've sat here for so long, I'm not gonna move for no one!!!'. I think most people would end up being pleasantly surprised after moving to different sections.

At the end of the day, there should be sections in the ground for every type of match going fan. So people like yourself who would prefer somewhere to sit down should be facilitated without the inconvenience of someone standing up all game infront of you, and people who want to stand up all game should be facilitated. Then everyone's happy.

Well said couldn't agree more

I'd welcome safe standing I really would although I think it might be quite difficult to implement at the Etihad due to the angle of the terracing/concrete. However we can bang this drum as much as we want. Until we have a huge change in the law it isn't going to happen. And lets not look at it through rose tinted specks. The atmosphere on the old Kippax was often shit.

why on earth would it be difficult to implement at the Etihad?

Ridiculous comment. In fact I'd say it does the opposite.
