The simple fact is the majority of the stadium will still stay seated even if it is implemented. If it were to be implemented within the stadium it would be in the south stand and the corner blocks of 111 etc (at least that would the logical thing to do) so this would mean the people who already stand would still be standing making no difference to their match day experience apart from making it safer for them (something to hold onto when we score or something to lean on when the effects of the alcohol start to take their toll)

The length of someones legs is irrelevant.

Also i get the feeling you may be 5 ft 5 and have something against people who are taller than you ;)

I'm 5 ft 9 and have nothing against taller people. I'm just pointing out there is a difference between a small person sitting behind a tall person and a small person standing behind a tall person. Which keeps being said there is no difference when clearly there is because people keep forgetting about legs. No one was arguing it wouldn't matter because everyone in them areas stand anyway.
I'm all for safe standing like I said we already stand in the south stand and presume the kids will be able to stand on the seats that have been folded away.

i dont think people are forgetting about legs i just dont think anyone cares.

you never know someone might have short legs and a long body and long neck. Then your leg theory has fell flat on its arse.

im pretty sure the discussion is about safestanding and not about people with abnormaly long legs anyway.

I got involved in the conversation when someone said standing, sitting, it doesn't make a difference to the person behind you. I have to concede if you have a giraffe in front of you it doesn't matter what size their legs are. But if it is a person then you cannot forget about their legs.
Can I please see a photo of one of these people with short legs but long bodys and necks?

Haha I must have been pissed when I was arguing about the length of legs. Still a valid point though.

the opposite of "safe standing" is what we and the rest of the prem, have at the moment, "unsafe standing".
Admission prices are highly unlikely to be reduced, imho, the atmosphere all around the ground is unlikely to improve, more likely just in small pockets but that is down to demographics and the gentrification of football crowds. Admission prices have been, and are the reason for that.
Should the debate reach Westminster, there will be a procession of donkeys putting on their best "earnest face" and saying we dont want another Hillsborough, proving once again they have never even read the report, which categorically stated it was down to many things but standing was not one of them.
The stalwarts who have been campaigning for safe standing for years must scream in frustration at the negative comments aired whenever the subject of safe standing is broached.

Standing at football was always safe. Millions of people did it with few casualties.

Why ban something with a very low death rate but allow motoring, junk food chains, drinking or smoking?

Horse riding causes many deaths per year and has a much higher death rate than standing at football matches ever had, so why hasn't that been banned?

It's always made me laugh, standing in a stadium at a football match is dangerous, yet go to a pop concert in the same stadium and it's ok too stand !

I'm 5'5" and I'd like a couple more inches but I can generally see when I stand at the Etihad and I don't resent anyone taller than me :-)

Plenty going on behind the scenes. You'll find out next season. :-)
