1894 group safestanding meeting

I take my 17 daughter and 14 year old lad to city and neither have experienced the standing days and both think its mad to stand up when you have got a seat ! And in all honesty I'm getting to the same point as them.IMHO its not weather you stand or sit its being able to turn up on the day and be with your mates .and I don't see pay at the turnstiles coming back anytime soon

i agree with what your doing, But I believe its pricing that is the biggest effect on atmosphere. young lads like me, in the 18- 25 bracket can't afford to go, its just to expensive for this group of fans. Safe standing will hopefully bring these fans together but only if its unallocated and low priced.

We are missing the local young lads that used to make the atmosphere, now the only people in the main that can afford to go are middle aged men. theres no where in the ground for people that age like there used to be, safe standing areas will help this. You only have to look at some of the away day videos to see how old our fan base is at the minute, the young vocal support is there. Focus on lowering price and it will get better imo

What about the middle aged/elderly women? Are they not also able to afford the match????

It depends on how wealthy their husbands are I suppose.

Good job I have a sense of humour, I pay for my own ticket and can't afford a husband because of it! ;-)

shame for them imo. if you have experienced it, then you really know if you like it or not. as it stands, they maybe are just not aware of better and that's why they think so.
if you have experienced both and prefer to sit, fair enough. I understand it, though it is not for me yet as I love to stand. When I'm older I know I will sit somewhere else.

IMHO the best way to go forward is do what we are trying - to bring safe standing areas. it wont effect the whole stadium.

i personally am happy with my seat and dont want to stand at a game, I'm sick of some people making out that standing will make for a great experience and a better atmosphere... I think its probably a small proportion that want to stand up and not the majority.

I remember the old days of the Kippax and have no inclination of standing when we have a beautiful all seater ground

Thats my own opinion

Maybe its an age thing but at Wembley it was doing my head in the ball being up the other end and having a seat and standing .
Something that a previous poster touched on if safe standing was to come back would you have to buy a ticket months in advance which for me is a big reason for flat atmosphere. It kills the yeah let's go the match thing I used to love now we get i got tickets to Burnley in a months time yipee type thing.
Also think a crowd responds to what goes on the pitch most teams accept they will get beat at the etihad and bring a reduced allocation.and we expect to win so don't get behind the team as we should.I find myself just clapping now when goal 4 goes in 5 years ago it would of been the season highlight and you would of being hugging everyone in sight.

You will still be able to sit though.

It's people like me though, that annoy the sitters by constantly standing up to get a pint or when we get a chance - we could all be shifted away from you guys! Surely that's worth campaigning for?

Was just thinking the same about the old kippax .IF we managed to score I used too start off somewhere above the tunnel in by the away fans and end up somewhere near the front !
How the hell wernt we killed in hindsight.
Wouldn't fancy doing that 4/5 a game these days
