1894 Singing Block for West Ham

We get told by club if when where etc. South stand became available when west ham returned tickets

no word on how many blackburn are bringing so no word yet where block for that game will be or if we are even allowed one. We have suggested one for rovers and one for 4th round

we can't jump the queue there's people on cup schemes then they get moved by the club then they get a chance to relocate and only then depending on availability would we get 24/48 hours to put something together

It was noticeable from the top tier that you lot in the south stand were starting a lot more songs than usual. I assumed it was this idea in action.

But you have to realise that singing in the south stand is effectively a waste of time because the songs won't spread right because of the away fans or left because it's the old mans stand. So good effort to you all, but the overall atmosphere will only ever improve if all the singers are in the same area, or very close. As it stands you have a big group of potential noisy fans just doing their own thing in that area of the ground.
I think the South Stand is also a waste of time because as soon as we ever get any of the bigger clubs in the cup they have to be moved somewhere else.

I've said the South Stand is the wrong place for the vocal area since Portsmouth came in 2003 and it's never changed. It's like an away section of home fans with, as you say, away fans on one side and the old men on the other. It's the worst place on L1 there could be to try and be the voice for the stadium.

Yep. And when you have tiers the sound doesn't travel to the tier above. So you can hear the south stand singing clearly from the north stand end of the ground, but hardly at all from directly above it. And not at all from the other side of the away fans, unless they are deathly quiet. And having a high number of vocal fans in that area of the ground halves the potential decibel level from the other singing area, meaning less of their songs 'catch on'. Around the rest of the stadium are thousands of occasional singers who will join in if those around them do.

It's almost a perfect storm for killing the atmosphere, unless it's an occasion where everyone is really up for it and the sound collects in the middle of the bowl.

In 117 you couldn't hear the west ham fans at all or the kippax side of the ground at all. Just the way it is at our place

Exactly, we could only see them clap

In 117 with these lads tonight and thought it was decent. If the club agree to it I think moving 100 or so fans to a quiet area of the ground would help.

Well done 1894 group, keep it up.

Sorry, I didn't want it to sound like I'm slagging you lot off. I respect what you are doing and the effort you are putting in, and the things you are doing are making a difference. It's the club I'm getting at. Because of decisions made you are working with one hand tied behind your back. What ever they say, they had a chance to rectify it with the stadium expansion but they haven't fully taken it.

Was sat above this at the top if 217 and saw the flags, but did think it's quite quiet from down there considering what yous had done by getting together, although now watching in the TV it's sounds a lot louder then it did from on the second tier, got to be the stadium design

Was great in 117 with flags, what might have been a flat game got going.

Poznan got the stadium going, more of it needed.

Against rovers in the fa cup we would like more tickets together to expand from tonight. Rovers will bring very few supporters so will be quiet unless we get going.

I could hear them on the tv, sounded pretty good to say there wasnt that many if them, full credit to them. Hopefully we can do the same for blackburn? Maybe get a few more aswell
I would probably say the Singing Section in the East Stand corner were louder tonight, but didn't sing as consistently as the lot over in the South Stand they were just very quiet but looked like they put a lot of effort in so fair play!

Fair play, its had to tell where the noise is coming from when im not their haha. Its a start though!

111 was pretty good tonight, better than I was expecting before kick off. Didn't hear anything from you lot but the one zaba song. proves we are louder when west ham direct all their songs and insults too us. We're on the march with pellegrini......

Its not a bloody competition, everyone is meant to sing the same thing

did i say it was. just saying we was more vocal. we would join if we could hear them. just like we did when we heard the zaba song, we joined in. but you wasn't there, you was watching on tv so I dunno why I'm bothering to reply. you hardly made the effort to join in did you
