19 | Ilkay Gundogan - 2024/25

He's never been blessed with pace, but an absolute brilliant football brain.
His form has dropped off a cliff, looks like he's running through treacle, I wanted to remember him being the captain of our treble winning team, not this version.

It’s quite sad to watch currently. That aimless pass to their player on the edge of our box just summed it up. It’s looking like a mistake this.
I said it was a sentimentality signing when he re-signed…..he new Barca wasn’t working, maybe a coaching role at city?

Sad to see. Everyone keeps saying he needs to get up to speed.

It's not like he doesn't know our system, players and manager.

He's getting progressively worse every game. Baffling. I've not seen a glimpse of the old Gundogan yet this season. Some of the mistakes he makes are cringeworthy.

Looking like we got this re signing massively wrong!!

He was always supposed to come off the bench and score a goal or two, but he does not have the legs to start for us.

He's 34 he was supposed to be a much needed extra man in a redcued but important role not a 50 game season role he's found himself in. He's not had a good start but we'd be even worse off without him. He had no pre-season either. We have to treat it as if he hasn't played football for 12 months, the intensity of LA liga isn't comparable, it's in many ways worse than being injured as his body and brain have become accustomed to a slower game. I trust he'll get upto speed and be a valuable player for us we just need to allow him time and accept we wont be getting the same player back that left us.

Stop talking sense. We don’t like informed posts like this on here.
We want those people that knee jerk at every bump in the road, claiming every Tom, Dick or Harry isn’t fit for purpose. If only they’d seen what we’d seen.
By the way, agree with everything you state. Form is temporary, class is permanent.
