19 | Ilkay Gundogan - 2024/25

I don't think Gundogan has the physicality to play the 6. But with Kovacic out, who is left? Anyone have any recommendations? Wright? Lewis? Nunes?

Very nice of Txiki and Pep to give Gundo a year off sipping Martinis under the Mediterranean sun to recharge his batteries.

Looks mentally fresh like he is totally up for it.. slotted in seamlessly and combined nicely with Rico and Haaland a few times in his 30 min cameo.

We almost went back to the treble system when he came on.. Bernardo/ Grealish wingers, 3 at the back, double pivot in midfield.

And a clear and beloved appreciated welcome back from the not emptyhad! You can come home again! :)
Maybe he needs another year off whilst sipping a few more Martinis under the Mediterranean sun.

I think he could be relied on for 20 games.. but 60 games might be a bit too much.. I'm not sure his batteries are even getting charged to 50% before each match!

I think it's safe to say the club won't be taking up the option of a further year. There are no signs whatsoever of him getting back to the intensity of the PL and I imagine he'll be getting a more than decent wage. Sums up the season generally as nothing has gone right for us and bringing him back was a mistake (with the benefit of hindsight obviously).

Can't disagree with a word of that. Correct me if I'm wrong though, but isn't Gundogan's extension triggered if he makes a certain number of appearances?
