Like Gomez situation, given some time we be better to judge then, but the way Haaland has started I do feel sorry a bit for this kid I must admit

Honestly think he has been alright this season. Just obviously pales in comparison due to Haaland, but tbf any striker would with the goals Haaland's putting up.

i'm afraid i'm going to be harsh but what does this lad actually offer? apart from running around fast.
Well, he's been on the pitch for 464 minutes and has 4 goals - and 70 minutes of those were in the match yesterday when he was much more isolated.

Yesterday he didn't have a huge impact, but then the team struggled with 10 men, and he was often left to press on his own, which can never be as effective. Clearly, with Liverpool coming up, the team weren't told to push for a win that they didn't need, and we even saw Ederson time wasting from very early on.

In the other matches he's looked really good, so I'd definitely be hopeful for the rest of the season. Once next week's break is out of the way, it's 2 games a week, so he's likely to get at least a couple more starts before the World Cup I'd assume.

sure, and i admitted in a follow-up i was being unduly harsh to him and i think you have some good points. Still, i think his energy is being used in a very haphazard way which i expect Pep is working on. I am confident my initial post will be shown to be wrong!!!

It probably takes a little while to click with all the pressing, although I suspect yesterday he was told to work on his own, and simply pressure the ball, giving the rest of the team a little more time to reset.

Agreed,he has been alright, just hope he gets more minutes, which I'm sure he will do,and shows us what he can really do.

He must of made 10/15 runs and no one passed it to him some saw him make those runs and just passed it sideways or back! I know why we do that but bet it’s frustrating for him..
Besides, he was always surrounded by two or even three defenders, all of them much taller than him. After Gomez's sent-off and after seeing that the other team never really showed intentions to go for the win it became pretty clear that things would be very very difficult for him.

Not sure he's a lone striker yet.

Might have done a job with a Sterling type winger up there with him making runs to split the CBs vs. Mahrez who will only ever interest the fullback and Grealish who's a midfielder on the wing.

I expect most of his success this seasonto be at RW off Haaland.

Agreed, i also think they should play together, but games like yesterday's are not really a good measure because it was 10 vs 11 for most of the game and yet the other team hardly showed any real intentions to attack, they made sure to always keep their defensive structure very tight and very populated.

aaaand we've started

The lad doesn't stand a chance with some fans. He's still a kid and he had a thankless task after the sending off last night.

He still made good runs (but got little or no service) and - in my view - worked as hard as anyone else in the team to get a result.

His only problem is that he's not Erling Haaland. The sooner some people on here realise that, the better.

I’m a huge fan of this kid but after a lively start he had a poor night and stopped doing what he does best. Far from the only one tbf and he has only been here five minutes. He’ll end up being a big player for us

No one in world football maybe ever has done what haaland done maybe Ronaldo for madrid

Spot on mate.It was as though they were totally ignoring him.

It’s not that! it’s about Pep message of don’t give the ball away and those passes the player thinks he can’t make that pass with a chance of it not getting to him because lose it there they’ll break with speed..
