There was a quote/story from Julian Alvarez during the early rounds of the World cup and I can't remember where it came from, but the jist of it went something like this.

Alvarez was sitting quietly in the City locker room, whilst a debate was going on involving the senior Spanish/Belgian/German/Swiss/English & Portugese players talking up their National teams possibilities in the World Cup tournament, when one of the players piped up asking Pep for his opinion.

Pep swiftly pointed towards Julian and said him, his team, Messi.

I don't like talking bad about our players or former players but The General needs a court martial and demoted to Corporal after the display of bad judgment today on the field!

Pep got it right.. he had to make way for Ruben Dias.

And we had to let others go to make room for Julian Alvarez!

let him go back home to celebrate properly for a week and have Christmas there and say to him we will see you in the new year Julian. He would only be missing 2 games anyway. He'll appreciate it and It will pay off for us later on in the season.

Pep really has a sixth sense at times. I still think back to that quote from Alvarez when he said some of the squad were talking about the upcoming World Cup, who would win etc. And Pep interjected to say “do you know who has the best chance?” before pointing to Julian. Fast forward to today and the kid is holding the World Cup aloft.

so glad for the lad, I bet Messi would be the first to say with Alvarez playing up front it has given him the space to work his magic because Alverez has run and run for the team

Reckon it's probably because Peps the biggest Messi fanboy in football as opposed to him having a 6th sense or doing an actual deep dive into each squad and their chances.
