Like him but needs to work on his first touch a bit, the ball bubbles up too often when he receives the pass which slows down the ball movement.

First game as a starter in Copa Libertadores = goal
First game as a starter in qualifiers with Argentina = goal
First game as a starter in Premier League = goal (x2)
First game as a starter in Champions League = goal

He has yet to play a game as a starter in Copa America and the World Cup.

Great to see him get another goal last night. He never ever stops running and his finishing is brilliant.

The way he smacks every shot is reminiscent of Aguero, seems to get a lot of power from very little backlift. Long may it continue!

He has that same boundless energy as Bernardo. The more of these type of players that we find the better. Especially if Bernardo is going to leave soon.

His pressures/90 is nearly 50% greater than the next best in the team.

Once he's had time to fully figure out how we tactically operate in that capacity, he'll be extraordinary. He's definitely the most relentless player I've seen for City, even more than Tevez, Jesus or Bernardo.

i'm afraid i'm going to be harsh but what does this lad actually offer? apart from running around fast.

A bit harsh the team didn’t play well top of group move on
i meant overall actually, however, i am always going to fall back on a mantra - every player gets at least one season before the critcisms, so i take it back. Just want to see a bit more directed threat, his energy is a bit all over the shop at the moment.

He got zero support. He cant do much without the ball in decent positions.

I thought he was pretty poor last night but don’t think he should be judged on that game as the sending off changed everything and he was surrounded by players having poor games. My only nagging doubt is whether he can play up front on his own as I think he looks much more comfortable as a supporting striker.

I think it is overly harsh to judge him when most of his minutes are played at the end of games and/or with a “weakened” team. I think most strikers will struggle with Grealish and Mahrez wide because they don’t create anything when paired together. Alvarez is likely to be a bit-part player with Haaland here and as we have seen previously with Jesus, it’s likely that will mean patchy form…some great, some not so much.
