We watched two seasons of missed chances and won the league in both of them.

We've watched half a season of Haaland, seen him score bucketloads, and you (not unreasonably in my view) reach the conclusion that we'd have been 'fucked without him'.

Not criticising your opinion, it just seems to support the view that signing Haaland has had a negative impact on the team generally.

Coming back to the Alvarez thread, I think both of our views on this season show that Alvarez has been hard done by. It would be a real shame to see him leave City without him being given a proper chance to show what he can add to the team.

Completely agree RE Alvarez. Completely underused frustratingly. I’m hoping it was all part of the plan and he’s not feeling too aggrieved by it all. I see mimics of Sergio in him with his bullet finishing and dribbling ability.

It will be disaster if we let Alvarez go. He is a huge talent, very reminiscent of Aguero and a perfect Gardiola player.
Unlike Haaland. It will be interesting to see how Pep reacts. How long will he give the project to assimilate Haaland to his way of playing.
How about a swap with Mbappe?

if Pep can make it work with him ill be more than happy.
He’s a very likable bloke and undoubtedly a great goal scorer.
I think we’re all surprised by how the team is struggling since the World Cup and imo a big part of the problem is accommodating EH.

Not happening in a billion years!

And doesn't make sense with our financials. Mbappe is on 100 mil a year base salary!

If you want Haaland out just say it.

I don't think anyone connected to City actually wants Haaland out. It's more a case of 'will he still be here in 2 years time', and 'do we need to rebuild / change systems to fit him in if he's not'?

Personally, I think we'll cash in and he'll be at Real soon after Benzema leaves.

Rebuild with a view to Alvarez being the main striker in the long term.

And here all the Real journalists are saying Real want Vlahovic because they cannot afford Haaland and Mbappe together as La Liga is not pulling in the money of the PL.

They really seem to want Mbappe!

I wouldn't worry about Haaland leaving till the Super League is a reality.

What pisses me off the most is that he will get minutes soon and if he doesn't perform well right away many will start critizising him saying things like "this is why he doesn't play" or "he is not good enough for the club". It's really difficult for a player to perform well when they don't play on a regular basis, specially for a striker. Besides, it's not like he receives enough service or that he get scoring chances frequently.

So in the meantime, we expect Alvarez to waste his career on the bench...?

He's better than that.

Yep that's what happens first year of Pep. Happened to Grealish, Rodri, Mahrez, Bernardo and Foden.

This might be a silly take but I agree with Aguero in one of his streaming videos that his best spot is not a 9 but a 10. So he might actually be a direct replacement for KDB.

And it makes sense since usually he gets subbed on for KDB unless Haaland is given the day off.

Pep Guardiola:

"The second half I wanted to make a change, maybe Phil [Foden] or Julian [Alvarez] in a position close to Erling to be more aggressive, but after we conceded the goal we were good."

WTF?

You only saw a snippet of his comment, read the whole quote. He also saw our team still creates a chances after RB goal so he hold on on his subs.

Oh believe me i read the whole article, and this is not the first game Guardiola doesn't make any subs, at least now we know what goes through his mind when he makes the decision not make any subs or makes them only during the last few minutes of a game, now everybody can stop asking for subs during the games, they are not necessary at all.

I thought he was relatively poor today but he got the goal and assist. Even when he’s not at his best things just happen when he’s on the pitch. Criminal he doesn’t get more minutes.

Great energy, but still rough in his controls and passing. Against elite competition he is still not starter for me, but he'll be a great player as soon as he improves the little things. Hard worker and I am always glad when those players do well.

I thought he was 2nd motm today, very busy makes things happen and scores goals
Completely agree mate, his first touch is good, but when you lack playing time and continuity on the pitch you tend to get a little bit rougher. Nevertheless, his energy and pressing is fantastic and he clearly makes a difference, no matter who the opponent is, that is of course when he gets any service.
