Watch his movement for Foden's second against Villa. Luiz is supposed to be covering Foden, but Alvarez drops off his marker to come into midfield and that draws him over and blocks him, so when Rodri beats his man, Foden is already in space to receive the ball. Clever player.

Miles away from last years form , and not sure why he makes the team so often , he gives 100% and never gives up but we need more than that at this level , dont mind him snatching at chances if his numbers are good but they arent and he needs to show the composure we know he has.
Haaland misses plenty but he scores plenty too , Alvarez has thirteen goals and has played a lot more games than Haaland , he isnt a number 10 or a midfield players , he would be better playing off Haaland but we do not play with two strikers ,for me he's no better than Jesus a good player who can come off the bench.

Rather than question Alvarez, it might be more prudent to ask why it is that Guardiola picks him ahead of others. I reckon he does so because he knows Alvarez understands the system and is flexible enough to knit play together. He just keeps popping up in the right places and that’s not coincidence. Contracted through 2028 and long may we have him.

I just don’t know where he fits into this team sadly. I also think his work rate has dropped off a lot.

His shooting not been good either. He was on fire start of the season but looks lost now

This is very common for strikers, they enter this rough patch and they suddenly look lost, despered and ineffective, but constantly playing him out of position isn't helping.

Julian has 28 G/A this season in 3.039 minutes, and Erling has 36 G/A in 3,022 minutes.

Erling is the best striker in the world, 2nd in the Ballon d'Or. On the other hand, Julian has been played out of position most of the season. He had some worse performances, but overall, these numbers are not too far off Erling, who is a freak of nature. Julian presses much harder and overall, contributes defensively much more than Erling as well. Of course, Erling holds the ball better, and Julian sometimes needlessly loses it.

We just need to figure out how to use him properly in this team, that's all, IMO.

The longer we keep him, the less we’ll get when we do eventually sell him.

This is the summer to get rid. Harsh but true. His stock is high.
I’m convinced we could get 80/90m now for what is really a 35/40m player.

Go again with the next experiment… he’s just another F.Torres, Jesus. Money to be made.
Good standard just not our (expected) level.
