The thing that's REALLY astonishing is that they have no excuses.
It's not like they have a new manager, trying to find his feet. It's Mourinho, in his 2nd season at the swamp and what, 7th or 8th season in the PL?
It's not like they haven't had any money to spend, nor that they haven't spent much.
It's not like they've bought youngsters and been building for the future.
No, they have gone absolutely balls out to win the league at whatever cost, with whatever short term, stop gap solution is needed. They've given their absolute best shot, and finished 19 points behind. A truly STAGGERING level of failure.
Wenger might be tempted to call Mourinho a specialist in failure ;-)
