he was probably lucky not to be sent off.

Oh behave...he didnt even get a yellow card.
It was a hard tackle but nowhere near as hard as the zabaletta come together with the juve player the other night.

momentum took Nigel through...it cant be helped but he won the ball fair and square..keegy and butt and the ref cant all be wrong.
Exactly. The ref was right there and saw nothing malicious. Didn't even give a foul did he? I can't remember.

Clearly a 50/50 ball - just bad luck for the lad that he tried to pull out - if he´d been as commited as De Jong he would have been ok

50/50? How the fuck is this a 50/50???

listen to the commentator at 10 seconds. that just proves that there was fuck all wrong with the challenge. the commentator says i wonder if its a shoulder injury the way he fell.

now if the tackle was as bad as that wankstain collymore is saying it is im sure they wouldnt have been asking if it was a shoulder injury.

Re: De Jong injury to Ben Arfa

Nothing wrong with it for me... said it when it happened. He won the ball, didn't go in two footed, unfortunate that the standing leg and De Jong's bent trailing leg collided.

About the only thing Atkinson got right all afternoon.

There should be nothing more looked into this.

Have you been to specsavers recently? You should - Ben Arfa clearly loses control of the ball rendering it up for grabs - his touch was poor - very unfortunate and I feel for the lad

Up for grabs? By going studs up with one foot, and kicking the side of the knee with the other?

You explain to us how it isn't a 50:50 ball then, because I see this as a fair tackle, hard yes, but fair! Just because a player, unfortunately, breaks a leg in a tackle doesn't automatically mean that the tackler showed intent or deserves the harangueing that that player will receive in the press.

It's clearly dangerous play.

If it was dangerous play, which it wasn't, then the ref would have had a say in the matter not to mention that the Newcastle players would have caused an unholy stink at the time of the tackle.

Re: De Jong injury to Ben Arfa

Shame for Ben Arfa but after hearing Collymore I've just got no words for how much of a gap between that wifebeater's sense of morality and De Jong's tackle.

Re: De Jong injury to Ben Arfa

Missed the first 5 mins, so this is the first time I've seen the 'challenge'....

Absolutely fuck all wrong with it, wins the ball fair and square, where is his trailing leg supposed to go? Fold it into his body?
