It was Brian Moore who was the ITV anchorman and a superb broadcaster. The football analysis was great in those days with people like Brian Clough and Malcolm Allison and the players giving proper interviews. The focus was on the football not political issues. The idea of a player describing his thought process as he provided an assist while watching it back was very effective.

Was that ITV coverage? I like the way how they don’t want to tell you the result at the start of the programme but still introduce Man of the Match Francis Lee who will discuss the game later.

Huge difference in the way the game is played now...both teams would probably have been down to 7 a side.
Pitch was awful due to horse if the year show and it snowed a fair bit too before the game.
No play acting or screaming for yellow cards..and the ref was hardly noticeable..very refreshing to see
