Being asked to play like an attacking FB which is not his forte. Wouldn't be a problem if Ake could offer more in attack, but he has the same weakness. We may try to sign a new FB next summer.

I didn’t really see the point of him in a back four yesterday. Offered nothing in attack and did nothing defensively. I think we would have been better playing a 5 yesterday with him and Ake further forward.

bit strange to me how much he is involved after last season especially he was pretty much on the way out of the first eleven, tactically he only made sense when we were up against someone like Vinicius for his speed.

this season he is captain, starting every game, new contract,I know we didnt want to lose him to Bayern, and he had that big dinner with Pep. I guess Pep had to agree to a crucial role for him rather than a rotational one.

I dont think he fits the 3223 formation, while this back 4 with him playing almost the whole right wing role, not sure this makes us stronger overall.

for building attacks, especially vs weaker sides, defending more deep we need very good ball skills even from defenders which he doesnt have

Will probably see his role diminish when Stones is fit.

Definitely.
We need Stones back and get playing the 4 CH again with Stones doing the false 6.
This is how we played our best last season.
I don’t really understand the Walker role. Neither a right back, wing back or false 6.
Fully understand need for him to be here but there was a reason Pep left him out of the biggest games last year.

Walker role was more like a makeshift wing back to hold the width while Bernado is not in the squad. So I guess our Kyle can get some minutes of rest since Bernado is back.

He was decent but his holding the width is pointless when he's such a poor attacking fullback. Opposition defenses almost don't have to worry about him. IDK what the answer is.

Didn't like him and Dias absolutely screaming at each other either. Show some composure, lads.

Suppose arguing happens. The lack of width is a big concern though

Kyle is a big problem for us. Has started every game and to what effect?
Some games even played like a winger and cannot cross a ball.
Now with Stones fit, we have to go back to the 4 centre half’s with Stones playing the false role. This is what served us do well last season and the reason Walker wasn’t selected for the biggest games last season.
It also got the best out of Akanji and Ake

Last season, he played 90’ against Arsenal home and away as well as 90’ against Madrid home and away and the FA Cup final.

You'll take pelters from many for saying this but I'm in the small minority that agrees with you.

I think he's still a fine player and has had a legendary career but I do think he's lost half a step and at some point for me, his poor weight of pass/inability to put a good cross in outweighs what he solely brings defensively for us. As you said, there was a reason Pep didn't pick him for the UCL final and IMO it mostly came down to extremely hot and cold passing mixed with his well-known brain farts.

Walkers passing wasnt an issue today
dias was far, far worse in that regard. When stones comes back in i dont anticipate it will be for walker, Dias is the one to come out imo.

Any insight from city end as to why he blew his lid at the end? Seemed very unnecessary unless something really bad was said to him. Expect more control from our captain. Last thing we need is more fucking bans.

Apparently, it was a former City employee who wanted to shake Walker's hand. Idk if anything else was said from the other party but the sad part is I'm not even surprised. I said before the captains were appointed that he had no business having that position. Wether it be the countless incidents off the pitch or his temperament on the pitch- it should have been Dias all day for me.

I've read similar from elsewhere but it makes little sense. He'd have to be a full blown nutcase to lose it like that if that was the entire story, has to be more to it.

I've no issue with walker being within the captains group as the most senior player but I wouldn't have him as captain either, temperament just a bit off to be captain, I say the same about kdb too, he's a bit too whiny to be captain. Dias and rodri suit it better with their calmness. When rodri isnt strangling people that is. stones should be in it too for me but the players decide the order themselves so who are we to argue.
