2 | Kyle Walker - 2024/25

Kyle Walker, John Stones, KDB and Ilkay Gundogan have been wonderful servants of this football club.
But it's evident that gravity has finally caught up with them.
I thank them for their service these many years. It's time to say goodbye.

He didn't learn to position himself, because he's arrogant, he probably thought he'd have the same pace all his life,no mate you won't. He used to get away with it, because of his pace, but now that can't save his poor positioning.

Clearly struggling. Lost his pace and it's like losing his 'superpower'.

My issue is the captaincy.
Leaders are people who set an example. He doesn't shirk, he doesn't hide, but I would want my captain to be someone I looked up to.

His 'off the antics' raise questions about his personality and his loyalty.
Players in my experience are strange characters, I agree from the outside Walker is the last person you would expect to be a captain but the rest of the players clearly don't feel the same.

Two of the last kit men, Ginger and "chappy" did my head in with their childish antics but again the players seems to love it!

The players still are comfortable with Walker being captain. Nothing us supporters can do to really alter that decision.

When the line up comes out and I see Walker's name on it I know we will be conceding and struggling for a result. I don't give a fuck who is injured Walker is no longer an option. All the great servant stuff aside in the now keep him off the pitch period.

He may have his little foibles (!) and he’s no Einstein, but I’ve always seen him as a bit of a warrior. That, plus his evident loyalty to team mates, will most certainly sit well with colleagues.

I posted last year - or perhaps the year before - that Walker's time was coming to an end (search this post history to find what I said). I argued that Walker depends on pace to make up for his positional deficiencies, and that as a 32 or 33 (at the time of my post - he's now 34) year old, his pace is shortly going to disappear.

My post was met with all sorts of derision.

To those who argued against me - I fucking told you so!

Walker is now a clear detriment to our defense to the extent that opposition purposely targets him when he starts.
