He isn’t a central midfielder for me. His best position is wide right and that’s where he should play with Mahrez on the bench. Hard work isn’t enough in midfield, we need invention and players who can pick a pass out of nothing. I don’t think that’s him. Foden and De Bruyne should be our midfield with one defensive midfielder behind whoever that may be.

I think we all have a soft spot for Bernardo but at some point questions have to be asked about what he brings to the side.

In a midfield 3 of him, Gundogan and Rodri, you would look to Bernardo as the most attacking/creative but he doesn’t assist and doesn’t score. We all appreciate his work-rate but if all we after from our midfielders is that they run around a lot...stick a husky in the middle of the park.

Our "number 8s" don't perform well this season..

David Silva and Debruyne were pivotal in the midfield and had a good mapping with the attackers..

Right now Gundogan and Bernardo aren't able to do that.. That's why without Gabriel Jesus who is the best suited for the False9 role when "number 8s" aren't up to their standards - has become the most important player..

Because when Rodri has the ball for example

Jesus is able to receive the ball and with one touch deliver it to Debruyne Or Bearnardo or whoever is playing number 8 and then there we can see some spaces which in the end is transformed to a goal or a good moment..

Right now when Jesus is injured we don't have a False 9 and that's why team can't create moments..

Mahrez -> has great first touch but lacks physicality
Sterling -> has awful first touch but can win physical duels
Foden -> Same as Mahrez
Aguero -> Same as Mahrez

So Jesus has both and he is so so important for us this season - we even can't imagine..

He had been looking better in recent weeks but today was a performance we were all too accustomed to seeing last season. Very passive.
