no wonder pep absolutely loves him, he always puts a performance be it in the middle as an attacking mid, on the wing or even as a defensive midfielder. What an engine he has and silky smooth on the ball, too good

I am really enjoying Bernie playing in a more attacking role instead of having to be the midfield engine. Just full of confidence taking players on.
Pep tried it and didn't work.. In 2019 / 2020 Bernardo started as a main RW and his level dropped instantly.. It's same what was happening to Sterling.. Brilliant as a RW, then you move him to LW - 1 game, 2 game, 3 and you watch how his level drops.

Bernardo is a box-to-box midfielder and right now N1 in the world on that position.. That's why Barcelona wants him and they consider to give him the similar role Xavi was having in Pep's system..

For this purpose, I can't understand, why some people here still want him to play that fucking RW position..

Whenever he plays RCM, during the game he is RW, RB, RDM sometimes even RCB and he is all over the pitch.. Why limit such a player with just an attacking role.. :DDD

Because he's great in that role too and offers more than Mahrez right now in that position

So just to add to the position thing about Bernie, on RW or Central midfielder.

For me, it is all situational.

If the opposition sits back and gives us the ball most of the time, Bernie is a fantastic option on the RW, because there is no need for a pacy RW if teams just sit back. We saw this when Pep benched Sane because he was making mistakes in small spaces while Sterling and Bernie had much tighter control on the wings.

In bigger games, where perhaps there is space behind for our wingers, then yes I think some pace on the wings is probably better, and in this case, we would want more control from the midfield and Bernie being central is probably the better option.

That being said, this means we play Mahrez RW and he isn't pacy either, so we don't have pace either way on that side.

So it's just situational for me.

He also played as a RW for more than half the season he got nominated for PFA POTY (including the months that really matter for that comp, January-April, and was incredible.

He also played on the right for Monaco which made us buy him.
He has always played on the right for Portugal.

I can't believe we still have people trying to pretend he can't play that position to a world class level despite hundreds of games of evidence proving he can.

Bernardo is a terrible RW. Why entertain this nonsense? Bernardo is my preferred RM. Any other position is just wasting his skills and talent.

The answer is Foden RW + Grealish LW. Bernado + KDB midfielder masters. Gundo rotation options given his age.

A lot of people saying Foden better at left wing but actually Foden never gets a chance to play RW for several games in a row and settle there. He was actually very good on RW on several occasions and in England shirts at times. It also means more goal threat from him because he is left footed.

The reason why Foden playing LW - I guess that it is due to we lack of a traditional left back who can provide natural width. But Foden is really wasted hugging the touchline and only delivers some cross...
